Loney, 1B
Young, LF
Dewitt/Laroche, 3B
Maza/Berroa/Hu/Ugh/WTF, SS
Appears to be the working lineup as of now. It was basically my dream lineup @ start of year, except with Furcal leading off instead of the black hole platoon batting 8th.

Where in the world is Oscar Robles? In that article Torre is talking about putting Nomar in the mix at SS
How much of an effect do you think the double play combo of Nomar and Kent will have on Derek Lowe's ERA?

Stupid. Kid was pitching fine, I mean, really, I hear announcers saying "he hasn't had a win since last August", but he's left games with leads and they've been blown, how is that his fault? There is no way Stults is better than Kershaw, even short-term.

It seems like Kershaw is pissed off about this. Definitely should've sent down Stults just not to **** with Kershaw's psyche.

torre is definitely not making the ridiculous in-game mistakes that little was making last year. i've forgotten most of em but things like not pinch hitting for the pitcher down 2 with 2 men on in the 6th or whatever, etc. was a hallmark grady little decision last year.
good game overall today. saito looked shaky (again), and billingsley was able to overcome the slight hiccup he had in the 6th and beginning of the 7th. i think those were the innings.
oh and nomar and jones (YAY) are back for the giants series.

At least having Jones back will me a merciful end to Dellwyn Young's glove work.

Kent, Andruw, Nomar, and Lowe pitching. If this was 10 years ago this line up would totally rake.

Jones hasn't changed a bit from his pre-injured state. 4 (Ks) for 4 today.
Nomar can't be worse than anyone-not-named-Furcal we've been sending out there.

If I ever say Andruw went 4 for 4, you can assume I mean K's

GROUNDOUT FOR JONES! Only 4 for 5!
oh hey, another double for Nomar. So much better than Berroa/Maza imo. Too bad we'll get like a week out of him before he's done for another month

Re: Dodgers 2008-20th Anniv. of Gibson's Homer and Orel's 59 Innings!
tbh i was rooting for jones to hit number 5 today. even still, pretty triumphant return. that smirk on his face every time he gets blown away tilts me hard. a lot of guys do that when they get owned, but he does it every time he strikes out.
also, that decision to walk kemp to load the bases for Andre "beautiful man" ethier was a little questionable. yeah the guy is "weak" vs. lefties but he's on fire.

Me too, on both counts. The smirk is like Tomko's after he blew a game.
Coletti talks shortstop-shopping, how is Loney not untouchable? I mean, that has to be idle speculation, but Loney is f'ing untouchable

Re: Dodgers 2008-20th Anniv. of Gibson's Homer and Orel's 59 Innings!
Meh, of the young players you have, Loney is the most tradeable / least valuable (discounting Hu, obviously). Trading Matt Kemp would be unthinkable, and Billingsley is worth more than Loney as well. At the end of the day, Loney is a first baseman with decent pop, a good batting average, and an okay walk rate. That's really not all that valuable, especially in comparison to a fringe ace / top-tier #2 pitcher like Billingsley at age 23 and a center fielder who plays solid defense and is a good bet to be a consistent 25/25 guy and an outside shot at turning in a career like Juan Gonzalez.
In short, Loney doesn't have the upside Kemp or Billingsley do. Loney might not have the upside Hu does, to be quite honest.

Re: Dodgers 2008-20th Anniv. of Gibson's Homer and Orel's 59 Innings!
If Billingsley gets traded I will be livid. Absolutely more angry than any other possible sports-related news could make me.
I think Martin, Bills, Kemp, Loney, Kershaw should all be untouchable. I know Loney doesn't have the same projected value as the others, but I'd still be pissed if he got traded in any non-blockbuster deal.
Trading Hu would be stupid too, since his stock is likely pretty damn low right now.
What's with all the hype around Jack Wilson? He seems like a decent OBP guy with zero power and is 30. Why does he command multiple top prospects?

Re: Dodgers 2008-20th Anniv. of Gibson's Homer and Orel's 59 Innings!
Trading for Jack Wilson would be absurd, yes. He is one of the few overvalued defense-first players in the league.
I wouldn't trade Loney, either, but if someone offered me a deal that fixed a hole in my organization (shortstop), I wouldn't put him on my "absolutely cannot trade" list. Matt Kemp and Chad Billingsley, on the other hand, would be on that list.

Re: Dodgers 2008-20th Anniv. of Gibson's Homer and Orel's 59 Innings!
I think we all can agree Jack Wilson is not the solution to our problems. We're gonna get creamed in the playoffs this year anyways.
1. sit tight for now
2. unload Kent/Lowe/Pierre at the deadline if at all possible
3. make some offseason moves that are a cut above the Jones and Pierre deals
4. ????????
5. Profit
I love that Russel Martin is the best defender we have, at two positions!
