I know this belongs in the announcers thread, but Jesus Christ, Gannon and Harlan are awful. Colts scored that last TD then missed the 2pt conversion so they were up 4 points. The announcers would not stop with the, "that Chargers missed PAT earlier in the game is looming big now." Yes the Colts would have gone for 2 to take a 5 point lead. My god!

Man, Dan Quinn was doing really well last night (going for it on 4th on a couple occasions where people would sending out the kicking team) I was almost going to suggest we remove him from the thread title.

And then he instantly goes for the PAT to go up 20 in the 4th quarter. Damn it Dan

Unfortunately, unless he wins 3-4 Super Bowls, for me, the name Dan Quinn will always be associated with kicking a 19 yd FG when literally kneeling the ball would have given his team higher equity.

I watched video of him speaking to the media following last night's game and I don't get why he is called Coach Bro.

Should Iowa be going for an onside kick here? I think this has been discussed in the thread before.

Add: Iowa had 2 TOs.
I am of the opinion that you should almost always onside in this spot (kicking off from the 50) and that it's super dumb when people don't.

Last minute of first half the Vols get a first down at the UGA 7-8 yard line. The Vols decide to spike it to stop the clock despite there being :36 sec left after the spike and still having a TO. Wtf, now it's 2nd down and they've wasted a down. However, lol UGA because the play gets reviewed to see if it was an illegal spike and the officials notice UGA had 12 defenders so the Vols get bailed out of their idiotic mistake.

Vols go INCOMP, INCOMP, QB scramble for TD on 3rd down.

Charlie Strong does not get nearly enough credit for being a bad coach. 2 weeks ago vs Cal he punts on 4th and 8 with < 2 minutes left down 50-43. Texas never gets the ball back LDO. After the game he makes a speech about how he is going to take over the defense and fix the defense. Has 2 weeks to prepare for Ok St, they come out completely unprepared today and give up 37 points in the first half. They also have (a record???) 3 extra points blocked in the first half. It never occurs to him that they might want to start going for 2 after the first 2 kicks got blocked. To top it all off, he decides to punt from midfield on 4th and 18 down by 18 with 5 min left.

Jesus, they still haven't fixed their XP blocking? They had one taking back in week one against ND, and we got real close to a few other ones. No one else in the country consistently has issues blocking on XPs

Charlie Strong does not believe in fixing things, or in making adjustments, either in-game or in between games. The only competent thing about Texas is their offense, which Strong basically has nothing to do with.

Brissett sacked on 1st down for a 14 yard loss inside his own 10 with under a minute left in the half. Sexy Rexy elects not to call timeout (has 2 left), instead saving them for 2nd and 3rd down. Pats end up punting the ball away with 8 seconds left. Buffalo could have called for a fair catch and attempted a free kick field goal, but they even messed that up.

Hue Jackson actually used his last timeout before halftime perfectly. It was 4th down and the Browns were in field goal range. He let the game clock run down to about 2 seconds before calling the TO. Seems so simple yet a lot of coaches screw it up.

bill 'oh bluddy hell whats he done now' brian,

its 4th down, 15 seconds to go in the half, can attempt a 53 yard FG

b'ob takes an intentional delay of game in the hope that the refs review the previous play. they dont. flag, delay of game. out of FG range.

ended up having to go for it, got a first down due to a PI flag and kicked the FG. whole enterprise was basically a negative freeroal

I was livid but I'm listening to Texans radio broadcast and during his halftime interview the guy didn't even ask and he just bill says on his own "that was absolutely ridiculous by the refs at the end of the half there" so I'm willing to wait this one out for more details. Boy did it sound awful tho.

mighta been close idk but the refs werent interested in reviewing it.

dunno if b'ob thought he could take both his remaining 2 TOs in a row or something, pretty much the only way his actions make any sense

Harbaugh accepting a 15 yard penalty to take away a 4th and 8 and make it 3rd and 16. Either way they are in field goal range. Obviously the Raiders turn that into a TD. Like 13 mins left in fourth quarter down by 2.

Lol ravens.

This is what John Harris, Texans sideline reporter and friend of OB for 23 years tweeted at me when asked what OB meant.

the Field judge told him there was going to be a booth review & then the head ref started the play clock. so OB was waiting for the review the FJ told him was coming but never did.

Wisconsin is playing arguably the best defense in college football and unquestionably the best defensive line. For much of the game their plan was to run on 1st down, run on 2nd, and be happy to let their redshirt freshman QB deal with a defensive line that could just pin back their ears and rush the passer without concern on 3rd and long.

3rd and long is ****ing cancer of the ass and balls vs good defenses and if you're calling hopeless dives on 2nd and 10 you don't want to win football games. You at least have a hope of getting in a better situation on 3rd if you're calling some short passing plays on 2nd.

I'm a Michigan fan and this was getting me angry.

He turned 4th and 6 from the BAL 25 into 3rd and 17 from the BAL 36. This is a bit results-oriented. I think we can agree that Seabass had a lower chance of making a 53 yard FG than a 42 yard FG (yes I am assuming that they would have gained zero yards on 3rd down).

Can't really assume that, particularly if they play a deep coverage which allows routes underneath, which teams usually do on 3rd and 10+
