I'm gonna go ahead and post my pick because I might not be around in the morning and I doubt NLSoldier is going to take him based on his team so far... if he wants this guy, he can take him and I'll make up the pick later.
I want to win and I want to win now. I want to win with elite defense. I'm running a 3-4. How do you win now with a 3-4? With elite linebackers. I already have the draft's best secondary, so I might as well get the draft's best LB core. I couldn't get 1 year of Ray Ray a few rounds ago, but I might as well get 3, maaaaybe 4 (optimism!) years of this guy.
Yeah he's gonna be 34 entering this season, however I think he could have a long-lasting impact on this franchise. Willis could definitely pick up some things from a great ILB like Urlacher, and it could improve his play for years to come. He can cover for Willis's one slight deficiency which is pass coverage.
What I ask is: Where are you gonna run on this defense? Got Willis, Urlacher, Wilfork, and Chancellor cleaning up anything that gets past 5 yards.
Where are you gonna pass on this defense? Got Tillman and Joseph locking down your 2 best receivers, with Byrd ballhawking deep. Oh yeah, I have the best edge rusher in the game coming for your QB.
Team so far:
ELITE offense
C Jonathan Sullivan
TE Brandon Pettigrew
Defense
NT Vince Wilfork
DE Barry Cofield
OLB DeMarcus Ware
ILB Patrick Willis
ILB Brian Urlacher
CB Johnathan Joseph
CB Charles Tillman
SS Kam Chancellor
FS Jairus Byrd
It's not THAT shocking that the guy who has picked no offense has the best defense so far
the young CB played a lot of nickel in a stacked secondary with finnegan and mccourty but at 23 I think he's got plenty of time to develop into a number 1 guy.
