Yeah I was almost hoping they'd made an agreement that they'd reinstate Bell and then he'd get himself out straight away lol. Assuming it wasn't too obvious it would have eliminated the potential controversy whilst still punishing Bell for being stupid.

He is class. Good enough to crack the top 6 as a pure batsman

England's lower order is so good that Broad got 70 something at lords and moves down in the order for the next game

Even if England annihilate India for the rest of this match, the result would have no credibility for me.

I'm so mad I can hardly write, but yes I agree Prior is an excellent batsman.

i know its being said a lot but India's pacers are horrible. They got so tired when the conditions did not suit them. When they actually had to bend a back to put in a decent delivery they failed for the most part.

Don't know why. It cost what 25 runs. You're going to lose by 100/200 runs barring a miracle. It's going to have no effect on the result.

Quite apart from that, reversing the decision was clearly the right call. Yes he could have let it stand but it would have been an extremely scummy way to get Bell's wicket.

India are getting destroyed despite winning both tosses and having easily the best of the conditions. Deal with it.

lol Brickie keep ur wig on. Absolutely the correct thing to do by Dhoni, class.

Reminds me of when golf booted out the leader of a major (Harrington maybe?) for not signing his scorecard quickly enough. Spirit of the game >> strict adherence to rulebook.

Just seen the highlights, Bell was out and, unless Asaud Rauf called time, I don't really see the controversy. Dhoni probably let him off because he couldn't be bothered to deal with all the whining.

Three pints and a packet of crisps please, as quick as you like.

Great day for Engand. I swear, apart from Kumar my mum could probably have batted easily at the end of the day. If the pitch stays like that India could yet bat for ages and who knows.

Re the run out it was obv out and Strauss/Flower were out of order IMO in even asking the question at tea. The only thing in their favour is that Stauss would have done the same thing and withdrawn the appeal, based on incidents in the past. Also, if Tendular or someone was out like this in India then they'd strggle to even get the game started unless the other team let him off let's face it.

My first instinct when I heard about it was that it was kind of scummy for Dhoni to appeal, but then I thought about it and realized that I'd have done the exact same thing if I'd gotten the chance. After watching the video, I thought it was stupid of Bell to be out of his crease like that, but I think it's better for the game that the Indians withdrew their appeal. But what Bell did was so dumb that as a neutral I wouldn't have felt bad either way.

I think now that the final result is 100% correct. Praveen kumar made a remarkable save of 4 runs, but he assumed it was 4. He took like 10 seconds to slowly pick up the ball and return it to dhoni. It seems almost everyone assumed it was 4 , including bell. So i don't think either player was angle shooting. The appeal was poor, but dhoni corrected it.

who cares what everyone was assuming. ball was in play. OUT.

I can't believe England begged Dhoni to let Bell play and he agreed like every Indian does when confronted with a beggar at a traffic signal asking for a 1 rupee coin

i mean you can see why england have been so succesful in recent times.

no.7 prior 45.1 avg @67.03 sr
no.8 bresnan 43.5 @ 43.86 (slightly misleading given he's only batted in 7 innings, probably revert to approx 30)
no.9 broad 29.33@ 63.18
no.10 swann 24.14@82.41
no.11 anderson 11.87@ 36.04 (better average than the bottom 3 indian batsmen)

it's not just how good their averages are, it's how quick they score their runs. then again i could probably score runs out there currently

Good on Dhoni and the rest of the team. I thought Dravid's interview last night showed what a class bunch they are.

Not convinced they did the right thing but still good on them.

Broad and Bresnan out, england collapsing.
