The early success of the Day/ Night tests are promising but that will probably fizzle out soon enough

I just don't see how they can revitalize the game at all now. Test cricket wont go anywhere, but it will just be for purists.

As long as future series between teams is
3x Test
3x ODI
3x T20

everything should be ok. Aside from the ashes more than 3 of anything becomes a bore.

Ideally T20 internationals should be dropped except for World cups. T20s are popular domestically. International T20 just cannibalize it and doesn't add much entertainment. That would greatly open up the schedule and give players more rest.

How would it greatly open the schedule when they only play two usually, so that's two days with a max of 8 overs per bowler. Anyway, it will never happen - they will play more most likely, and reduce the 50 over games.

I like T20 international one off games even if it is just for the reason of getting some practice in for the bigger world cup games. Also, it is too lucrative for cricket in general to miss out on it with the audiences that it draws.

Kohli made another hundred while chasing, as india chased down 350 after being 60/4. Yea the pitch was a road, yada yada.

This shot however was ridiculous, especially if you saw it live. https://streamable.com/rb5qf

NYT article on sledging in cricket: https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/26/o...port.html?_r=1

The author "A. Odysseus Patrick" pulls no punches, the artice's full of the "think of the children" stereotypes, has glaring inaccuracies, and even goes as far as to invoke Phil Hughes' death. Maybe he was picked on at the school yard, it's the only explanation I can come up with, since he seems to have an axe to grind and acts like this is a cricket only problem.

So I know the yanks don't really visit this thread, but has the NYT always been this ****ty?

Some recent articles they had about india were similar, badly written op-ed pieces which seem to re-enforce their pre-existing stereotypes, even if they were inaccurate or wildly exaggerated.

Exciting last sessions brewing amongst the bodyline carnage at the Basin Reserve

Need to knock off this last wicket to chase around 220 off around 40ish overs

Nice twist, gotta love modern day test cricket

Pretty sure I would prefer Steve Smith's test stats over Kohli's ODI and T20 stats.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/australi...er/267192.html

But then again given the length of time AB de Villiers has played I would prefer his all around stats

http://www.espncricinfo.com/southafr...yer/44936.html

Other candidates who come close:

Kane Williamson

Joe Root

It really is a golden age of young great batsmen

It reminds me of the 4 great allrounders rivalry of the 80s

What a win! Very happy with that after them racking up almost 600 lol

Bangla really do have potential, they need to play more I feel.

Apparently they havent played an away series for over 2 yrs? Wat! No team will improve with such little overseas exposure.

The mention of the coroner's report is enough to say you can't take the article seriously.

Losing after scoring 595, with only 40 odd overs bowled on day one, is just crazy.

To be fair, they were decent against England on the pitches they prepared. Fair pitches, with spin from ball one but fairly constant through the match. I reckon they'd be slight favourites at home on pitches like that, or at east broadly even money, against four Test match teams maybe.

I love his competitiveness and hard edge, Im sure he will soften a bit as he ages

I love watching almost all players who are not Australian who display those traits lol

I think the game needs characters sprinkled through it, the game would be a bit duller if everyone was like Kane or Sachin

Nervous morning for me, I have 70% of my roll on NZ to get a 1st innings lead

I plonked on when it was paying $1.10 and we were 160 odd for 3 with Taylor looking primed for a record equalling ton

Cue the collapse lol

Need 29 runs out of these last 3 wickets with battler Nicolls and 3 true tailenders on a sweating wicket

These are the sweats u gotta love, I gotta say Im not hopeful lol
