I'm so conditioned for England to crush I actually still thought we had a chance with Anderson in to bat. Wish wish wish this was a 5 match series..............

All this talk about it being a thrashing, we took two wickets ya know. Could have been worse.

Why ? England lost 3-0 to Pakistan and lost a test in Sri Lanka. I can't think of a time when we were actually better than South Africa since Graeme Smith has been in the SA side. The other thing I don't understand is why Graeme Smith is taking flak for his batting. He averages 50 at a SR of 60.

Re: Cricket: Random Discussion Thread

Apparently this is the worst defeat in test history.

Last 10 tests or so suggest that England aren't much good tbh. Confirms the belief that England's batting line up is hugely overrated and will crumble against good bowling. Their bowling attack is still excellent but didn't have much to work on that pitch. Pitches like that aren't great for test cricket imo.

I'd guess that it's because he is very boring to watch - I don't even think the South Africans like him very much

They moan about Kallis and they are right. He's scored his runs at an SR of 45. If England had scraped a draw it would have been in part because of Kallis's slow innings. SA should have ended up on 680-odd (wickets in hand didn't matter) not 637-2.

The England bowlers didn't put their backs into it. Broad and Bresnan bowled like medium pace trundlers. SA were getting a bit out of it but I agree it was a slow surface. England's batting strength lies in its depth. If the seven, eight and nine can bat a bit (even the ten when Bresnan's playing) the lower order can repair early collapses.

Pietersen comes out to chase 253 off 39. Could be one of the great run chases.

Really hope that KP sticks with tests for at least the next couple of years. That first innings knock at Headingley was out of this world!

KP has a point. The ECB should stop using the players as pawns in their struggle against the IPL. They should allow all the players time off to play in the IPL.

Re: Cricket: Random Discussion Thread

Under 19s world cup starts today.

BRAG: In its Australia and I wanted to go
BEAT: Its on the other side of the country (roughly 2000 miles away)

Anyway, Australia rolled England for less then 150, but we are 3/35 chasing after 9 overs.

Could be a fun chase.
