I mean, when they won in the Windies they shut shop instead of going for a very makable target - anything but an attitude you'd expect from the world no.1. There was a 2-3 years period where we had really good results. Won a test series in England drew in SA, won in nz & WI(lol but still counts), Pak and dominated everyone at home. So it's not surprising we got to no. 1.
Our best 3 players retired in a short span of time, and another one retired just a year before that. It should come as a surprise to no one that we are going to suck badly at test cricket for a while.
I'm not the biggest fan of Dhoni's captaincy so I do take solace in the fact that this is happening under him, result oriented as bcci is maybe they do look to someone else.
