Decent tournament so far. This Stanlake looks a serious prospect, just about as quick as anyone and from 6 feet 8.

His action needs a bit of work but apart from that he looks the goods. I say his action because at that pace he would probably be easier to pick up than it would if he had more of a front on action.

Think this is the most open IPL ever. No team looks a clear favourite. RCB desperately need some wins soon though

Been to a few ICC warm-ups .. and the games in Ireland.

IMHO, only 4 teams can win the trophy .. in favoured order .. Eng/S.Africa/India/Aus.

Home court advantage is v big, but, India will bring tremendous support.

Pitches expected to be high scoring, but, might suit, hit the deck bowlers.

Would be stunned to see Bang/Sri Lanka/Pak, or to a lesser extent, N.Zealand win (batting issues).

Eng were a bet at 4.5+ .. 3.75, is much less attractive, but, think they go v v close.

Very cunning from England today imo. Just when expectation was rising too much, they get skittled out in a meaningless match. All part of the plan.

Totally agree that those four are ahead of the rest. Eng are slightly ahead imo, but I have a feeling that Starc may cause a few issues and Oz could have some decent bowling. We are talking small edges though, none of those four winning would be in any way surprising. Should be a great event.

Pay no attention to the warm-up games at Edgbaston .. all the games, had stupid boundaries .. (pic from Aus v Pak game, that was called off, ..)

Game 1 .. Eng v Bang - Oval .. Betfair odds .. Eng 1.20

I have watched bang play maybe 5 times, over the last mth, and the overall flavour I get, is that they are a v disciplined, and well supported team.

They bowl v well, can drop some catches, and have a few good batters .. who, might score 275. Its hard to see that being enough, but ..

In the warm-up, India were 1.30 pre-toss v Bang, and went to 1.35 when Bang decided to bowl. When India were 3 down, they touched 1.69.

As a trader, I have to lay the 1.20.

Am going to the game.

Didnt much enjoy the day .. picking up ticket from collection, took 45 mins, security another 15 mins .. finally, got in the ground, 30 mins after the start.

Bang did fairly well to score 300, but, the Oval is full of runs.

Eng did trade higher .. 1.39 or so, when bang were going fairly well, so, showed a profit.

Day 2 ..

Aus v NZ .. Aus 1.53 on Betfair

I would have Aus a bit bigger, but expect mkt to be in love with them, for long periods.

NZ prob the value play, but, want to see the teams first. No-bet for now.

Not having reserve days for matches seems to be very clever of a team designing a tournament for England conditions.

I wasnt at the ground (went to Epsom, for Oaks/Derby), but, it seemed v odd NZ would choose to bat first, especially with weather around.

Radio seemed to think the 290 they scored was finally below par .. but, having Aus 3 down, NZ were decent favs, so, maybe they were right.

Completed Match mkt, always knew there would be no game .. some serious money, is invested in weather forecasting, and they get rewards.

Edgbaston is right up there, if not, at the v top, of all grounds I despise the most. The number of games, it has lost, due to weather,/bad drainage is unreal.

Was a solid video going round twitter last week of a dismissal from a county championship game (think Somerset were involved if you want to look it up), where someone gets bowled by a yorker. From a spinner. On the second bounce

Never mind, I found it, hope this works

Game 3 .. S.Africa v Sri Lanka .. Oval .. S.Africa 1.29

Sri lanka are well past their best, and S.Africa are a v decent team.

This should be a train .. lump on S.Africa, and collect.

S.Africa has a well won reputation for chokers .. if they toss this, they will cost me plenty.

South Africa will probably wait until the semi to choke, you should be fine.

Game 4 .. India v Pak .. impossible to get a tkt .. India 1.49 .. CMM 1.16 .. at the weather trap, that is edgbaston.

India were a bigger price than I expected in the warm-ups, and the mkt didnt really love them.

I think they are as good a bet to beat Pak, as S.Africa were today. 1.49 is massive, and cant understand it.

I would make them 1.33 tops.

Hope it rains early.and CMM sees some life.
