A little bit worrying how much space Chile allowed in the 2nd half before the Vidal penalty. There were a lot of breakdowns so that can still improve and will have to against more consistently good opponents but attacking they're very entertaining as usual and created with relative ease against some actually pretty disciplined/strong marking mostly from Ecuador.

We didnt really have a DM yesterday. The five players that can play that role are imo Carmona, Pizarro, Vidal, Gutierrez and Medel.

Carmona is injured. Pizarro may be too old to cover a back 2 ( in Fiorentina he used to cover a back 3 in that role). Medel is better off playing as a defender because of cost of opportunity, the same with Vidal but attacking. Gutierrez offers way too little with the ball to justify putting him instead of Diaz or Aranguiz.

I think that against a stronger side Sampaoli will probably put Pizarro early in the second half and maybe give more defensive responsibilites to Vidal.

EDIT: FYI the players that played in the Universidad de Chile team of 2011 are: Mena, Aranguiz, Diaz and Vargas. Sampaoli has a soft spot for all of them. Albornoz and Pizarro could easily play over Mena and Diaz.

We definitely played poorly by our standards last night. But the result is the result. Probably had some nerves going early. We're usually in the position of being a nothing to lose underdog vs the top teams but now there's quite a bit of pressure to perform well. We played better in the second half, especially Alexis and Bravo was great all game. More importantly, Vidal seems to be in pretty good health/form. We'll cruise into KO stages and benefit from reffing all tournament hopefully.

Pls piojo dont go in full ****** mode. Aquino and Marco Fabian shouldnt even been in the team in the first place. Now dont make that mistake even worse by giving them minutes on the field.

Mexico did too little too late. They should have been playing more offensive football since minute 1. The first 60 minutes were just too easy for Bolivia. Great result for the likes of Peru, Venezuela, et al.

Cant justify a Chuleta call to the national team, imo. He just scored 4 goals all season long and happened to luckbox another 4 goals in the away leg of the league final. I do agree that calling up vuoso to the copa america was surprising to say the least.
