I wish the public (and us) would have the restraint not to buy this fight. It will be worse than Mayweather/Paq.

I would think the low odds exist because only those with expertise in the sport realize the degree of mismatch. The man on the street is not looking at the odds and wondering about them. (And the reason professional gamblers aren't going crazy moving up the odds is because laying odds can almost never be that wonderful, especially if there are even tiny reasons to suspect shenanigans.)

It's basic Kelly that you should wager more on undervalued favorites compared to undervalued dogs because they win more often. Don't see how this is anything other than a super attractive opportunity for professional betters unless they believe that the odds actually are correct. Can you actually get large amounts of money down at these odds yet though?

k but why was may -3000 vs andre berto last time out, surely the same logic should've pushed his oads up then as well

guess the plausible answer is that too few casuals were interested in betting on that fight

Yup, Floyd has been hit hard by boxers who, in boxing gloves and from a boxing stance, hit much harder than Conor.

I know you're "right" but I hate that the perception will always be that MayPac sucked. Yeah it didn't have the action it would have had they fought when they should've, but from a technical standpoint, it was pretty great.

But if Floyd is truely 1 to 50 here to win and is currently only at 1 to 5, shouldn't everyone with wagering capital be shipping?

Currently:
Manny Pacquiao -650 against 20-0 pro boxing prospect Jeff Horn
Floyd Mayweahter -500 against 0-0 amateur boxer Conor McGregor

That is nothing short of insane.

I like May by stoppage @ ~1.80. Gives a better return and I feel like its a no brainer to happen.

I can guarantee you this fight will be more entertaining than mayweather vs pacman, Mcgregor never been in a boring fight in his life, he will not be defensive & it will be a show whether he loses or not.

I'm a pro wrestling mark so I'd get worked by this and buy the rematch for sure

They are probably already getting a lot of money down. The point is that the odds shouldn't be that much of a surprise given the interest in the fight. I mean when was the last time there was so much buzz about any sporting event where one side was thought to be less than 25%? Closest I can think of was Ali-Liston.

They should add something like you're allowed one takedown every three rounds, or something.
How about 5 x 5 minute rounds in a cage with MMA gloves under boxing rules? Or is the spectacle of this fight more to see if McGregor lives up to his promise of beating Floyd in the ring of boxing? Maybe any variation from boxing would take away from the appeal of the fight. It's not as if anyone would expect Floyd to win in the Octagon under MMA rules nor would he ever boast that he could under their rules but McGregor called out Floyd in boxing so I guess for this fight has to be under boxing rules to provide any real hype.

Regarding the odds, I think they justify setting them that low cause McGregor will not only get more than the usual money coming in on him from the casual MMA fan but he will also get more overseas money backing him from the casual fans. Similar to the Ricky Hatton odds when he fought Floyd and I remember thinking the price was really low on Floyd but Hatton had a ton of support from overseas.

Now i'm no fistycuffs expert but if Pacquiao and The brave English bulldog Ricky Hatton cannot KO Mayweather then this chump mma fighter is 10,000/1 dog

Wish I got down more when it was at -600 tho, it's up to 800ish now.

Probably be rigged and be in the fetal position crying but we'll see

For everyone talking ish about Conor, listen to this podcast, the guy in the white shirt owns the gym that Conor & chrisvanwhateverhisnameis sparred in & basically said that footage wasn't even supposed to be released, people messing around in sparring means nothing. Go watch some of mayweather sparring, looks really bad as well.

That's fine, but Floyd is still going to school him barring some insane unforeseen riggage or like Floyd tearing an ACL as he is throwing a punch.

I would love to see this mythical sparring footage where mayweather looks bad by all means point me in that direction

I guess I'll listen to this two hour podcast to find it said no one ever

yeah, where does Mayweather look bad in those sessions? Plus keep in mind, those youtube sessions feature him at like 30%, making funny noises, being relaxed and having a good time with like 50 people watching him. you can't see the real 100% sparring sessions.

Conor looks horrible in that video, he makes horrible mistakes, looks like someone who doesn't know how to defend himself in a boxing ring, he's in a bad position all the time, his balance is far from 100%, elbows too high, he's relying too much on that left hand, it's really, really bad. At least that's what I've picked up based on that short video and his MMA fights, and I'm a complete amateur, I've barely trained boxing for ~7-8 months a few years ago. I'm pretty sure any boxing coach will tell you the same. He'll definitely look better in August, but that means nothing against Mayweather. Floyd can go in there without any plan, box at 50% and still whoop him badly.

And just do yourself a favor and stop listening to the likes of Schaub and Rogan when it comes to boxing and Conor. These are the same people that called Ronda a once in a lifetime athlete and Rogan started to cry when he was interviewing her.

We're talking about a guy who makes the fastest fighters in the division miss by miles over and over again. Floyd embarrasses world class fighters in a way we've never seen in the modern age of boxing. Conor isn't going to touch this:

That move by Floyd around 4:17 is insane. Cotto barely telegraphed that and Floyd dodged it like it was nothing.

I feel like a lot of these boxing videos Conor is posting are calculated. He wants Floyd to watch them and assume his skills. IDK, Conor might be a terrible boxer but I think there's more going on here.
