guys, everyone's forgetting what happened the last time a UFC champion switched to another combat sport and faced a legend with a huge undefeated record, except the odds were like -6600 rather than -600

Of course Floyd will ko him. And it will be because of an accumulation of punches not a one punch ko.
My guess is between rounds 4-6.

It's not unlike Roy Jones Jr. And Bernard Hopkins. RJJ might be the fastest fighter in Middleweight history. At his peak he was absolutely blinding. He never had great teqnique, but his speed and power made that irrelevant. He fought BHop when he was 24 and won by Unanimous decision.

BHop was never overwhelming, but his technique was about as close to perfect as we've seen. He was the Tim Duncan of boxing, which is why, when he and RJJ met again 17 years later, Hopkins won because RJJ had slowed down enough to be vulnerable.

Floyd is much closer to BHop than RJJ

RJJ highlight videos on YouTube are some of the best things the internet has to offer. **** really was blinding.

then, he got old(er). a guy I smoked weed with a handful of times and who dated a good friend of mine (tony hanshaw) took him to 12 rounds.

but yeah, your comparison is dead correct.

Not really relevant to the thread, but just a quick reminder than Roy Jones Jr. once hit a man so hard he left him with that "Watched The movie from The Ring" face:

basically, yes, and I have a real hard time seeing Floyd agreeing to take his first loss. maybe they get the judges in the bag.

but it's doubtful.

I think the simple explanation is both guys are doing the fight bc it's a crazy large payday (hundreds of millions between the 2 of them) and from there they'll play it straight.

What's the realistic figure one can bet on Floyd v Conor going the distance at 3 to 1? That would be the only "dive" I can see Floyd taking in order to make more money from betting, but even so, highly unlikely

This is a straight up boxing match, right? No rule changes or anything? CM doesn't stand a chance, if that's the case.

They should add something like you're allowed one takedown every three rounds, or something.

I'd like to think this forum sees all the angles. What the **** are we missing with this? I disdain Floyd but my disdain isn't going to make me bet CM with such an obvious talent gap. Is that what it is? The dumbest of dumb and buckoo bucks of hater money taking CM?

^ been asking myself the same thing. The only thing I can think of maybe maybe is Connor is possibly 20 lbs heavier and has 2" on him but even still I don't see why that matters.

I mean if the roles were reversed and this was a pure MMA fight what would the odds be?

Connor being shorter odds than legit elite boxers makes no sense

Conor is a way bigger favorite in an MMA match vs Floyd than Floyd is in a boxing match.

Boxing is a skill that Conor has some rudimentary skill and training in, while Floyd has no training in other disciplines besides boxing. Basically if Conor just gets close enough to put 2 hands on Floyd, it's over in 30 seconds. in this scenario Floyd isn't much better off than I am vs Conor. don't know what the odds would be but Floyd (or any boxer) would be such dogs that they would never even agree to the fight in the first place

Plus the age factor (Conor is much younger)

I am not so sure. Conor has 0% chance of beating Floyd in boxing, I think Floyd could have a slightly bigger chance in mma by hitting and running the entire fight.

Even Barry Sanders would eventually get tackled in the octagon.

You can't stuff a takedown with a jab.

you know how in boxing you can just clench your opponent if you get in trouble / want to stall? it's not that hard to do. and the second that happens to Floyd from Conor (with MMA rules) the fight is over. the match would probably last under 60 seconds, considering Conor just needs to get close...and he is allowed to kick!

Conor has a bigger relative chance in boxing bc he is a strong puncher who could get lucky with one punch

The public loves to lay the points, but they hate laying big $$. Vegas is a dog $$ line town. Guys aren't asking their friend if they can lay 800 to win 100 . They are putting up 100 to win 600.

Maybe people just want to bet for the fun of it and this will be a rare market swayed by the shear abundance of public $$. Don't read anymore into it than u have to.

The only mitigating factor is CM being a lefty. That increases his equity from like .1% to like 2%. I also don't see anyone predicting a 1st or 2nd round knockout.

Floyd is gonna dodge and punch CM in the face. Cm is gonna slow down from stamina in the mid rounds and then just get destroyed depending on how aggro mayweather gets.

This fight is a true joke tbh also this illuminati **** is hilarious. The only thing Floyd cares about is having a 0 in the loss column.

Excluding some match-fixing bull**** and the fact your money would be locked up for 2.5 months, there is no reason anyone with disposable income should not be betting the max at each and every online book, local bookie and naive friend they can find.

People lol at betting multiple hundreds to win $100, all that matters is the EV of the bet. LOLvada has -550/375 currently (max for me is <500), that is 80/20% no vig odds. Does Conor win >20% of the time?

True odds should be +-3000, not taking bets at that price for obv reasons

-500 is awesome but I don't want to risk $5k to win $1k. It should still be lopsided but just doesn't seem worth it.

A lucky punch is not enough. Even if McGregor somehow was the first man to legimately knock floyd down he's not gonna knock him unconscious. Floyd would still get up and win the fight easily.

Ehhhhh I will say the hardest clean punch I saw Floyd take was from Sugar Shane. No idea how he stayed up but if Floyd took a legit clean left from CM I dunno man.
