Are measurements made at request of either team or an executive decision made by the officials?

I feel like if it's the latter than it feels like the offense should be able to override it and just run up to the line and run a play on 4th down (or w/e down it is). If it's the former, then teams on offense should rarely do it and defense should request it every time (to delay the quick sneak).

Isn't that the type of response you would expect to justify the decision?

Down by 11 none of it makes any sense. Best case scenario you get the ball back right where you are - with like 3:30 after burning 3 timeouts - still needing to score 11. That's *best case*. One first down by the Bills and game's over.

Pagano decision is even better because ran it twice with their midget back to get stuffed, bought in Turbin for 3rd and goal from 1 and passed with Tolzein lol.

To be fair, the Jets convert that 4th Down like 3% of the time and with 3 timeouts its reasonable to think you can force a quick run-run-run-punt.

Its not like they're gonna win anyway. They're the Jets.
