yeah, it's just a CB jamming a WR at the line imo

And LOL at Lynch fumble being for likely than Wilson INT.
Ya this is a bad post. Ez to watch from the couch but many things happen in a split second and defenders close in that time period

Turnover is probably closeish to equal.

Scoring via run on 2nd down also leaves them the same amount of time so it sounds like you are saying "ZOMG we better not score with 30 seconds left to take the lead in the Super Bowl because it's so easy to score on one play later".

It's a ****ing wonder you're not getting calls from multiple NFL teams right this minute to run their entire show.
Youre still ignoring some context.

Pats suck at goaline run d.

Lynch is a beast

Wilson sucks

Also I am fairly confident many of the successful passing plays referenced above came on goaline formation play action passes and not out if shotgun with a crap qb and wrs off the practice squad

russell wilson does not suck

lynch is the one with a long career history of failing more often than succeeding from the 1

and as said if you are going to get 3 plays you have to pass on either second or third down. passing on the first with an incomplete forces them to defend both options on all three plays. i guess they didnt properly weigh the odds of literally the first interception thrown from the 1 this entire season

Well it's low risk. Ppl get rly mad when coaches iso or run pnrs when tied, this is the same thing.

Surely the interception statistics go up in goaline situations due to it being a shorter field with more defenders crammed in and fumble stats probably say the same.

If that ball is thrown 3 inches to the right/the reciever is more aggressive or just bigger like matthews etc then Seahawks win 80% of the time and people are praising caroll with the balls to throw when everyone is expecting a beast mode run etc.

That being said. Second and goal from the 1 with a timeout and New England having to worry about the time is not the time to FPS it. Hand it off. If he gets in great. Stopped just short, line up again and punch it in or if he is tackled for a loss take the TO and then you have 2 plays the first of which is probably gonna be a pass.

Its just unecessary extra risk, but the guy made a great play on it and the reciever didn't make sure that he either caught it or no one was gonna catch it.

I probably should disconnect from the internet for like a week. The commentary in the press and on social media about this play call is so ****ing terrible that it is giving me an ulcer.

The play call was debatable but certainly not terrible. Anyone who says it was WOAT in a Super Bowl is a complete imbecile. It wasn't even the worst coaching decision made in the last two minutes of this Super Bowl.

I've been reading the thread. Not much discussion about the right playcall. What were Seattle's tendencies running in goalline situations and what was gashing NE the most? Needle, anyone?

Since when is a quick slant near the end zone an example of FPS. I've seen that play run like 10,000 times.

I guess that there is a risk of losing yardage, but maybe a play action bootleg with a run/pass option for Wilson.

All these stats are not of any use here because they will virtually all be with goalline offense v goalline defense.

In this spot Lynch was facing 8 DL and LB with only 6 blockers.

I'd be surprised if he scores more than 10% of the time in this eact position.

Yeah, Seattle did not have a very good personnel package to run. So was the plan throw once, change personnel or simply throw 3 times?

I think it was bleed the clock so Brady had no time left to drive (why Belichick didn't call timeout I have no idea) and then throw.

If incompolete, run / timeout / do whatever they feel scores a td on 4th down

I know this.

I think it is a much more questionable decision than throwing once they've decided to play with this package.

Guys the Pats had their GOAL LINE defense in.

And as we all known, Marshawn Lynch is unable to power his way to 1 yard if there's a lot of bodies on him.
