Where was the outrage over Brees being in these games late?
How do you know that Chase Daniel wasn't in the game feeding the RB every time? Or maybe Drew Brees was doing that.
Actually, I'll just look at the recaps and see what happened.
The game by 55 was against Indy. Brees didn't throw one pass in the 4th quarter. Chase Daniel actually took over with 24 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. He didn't throw a pass.
Game by 29 was against the Failcons. This was for the passing record, so you can definitely be mad or not for that reason. But understandably, Brees is going to be in there.
Game by 28 was the last game of the season against the Panthers. Brees last play was a TD with 12:22 remaining in the game. Seems like a reasonable time to pull him out.
Game by 25 was against the Giants. Looks like Brees was in the whole game, but his last pass was with about 11 minutes to go.
Game by 22 was against the Vikings. Brees was in for the beginning of the 4th quarter. Saints got a TD with about 13 minutes and it looks like he was pulled after that, but the NFL.com summary play-by-play isn't showing him being replaced even though Chase Daniel made a pass to Colston on a second down. So, it's also possible he was pulled against the Giants. Either way, this one is super standard, and Brees was in for the appropriate amount of time.
None of these seem egregious, and the only one that was obviously suboptimal was for a record. I guess the Indy one could be called late, but they did score 14 points in the 4th quarter and Brees started his final drive with 7:46 in the third quarter and ended at 1:46. Unless you pulled him before the drive, you won't pull him later in the drive.
