In many cases this D is fine, but I agree with you for the most part. Coaches use it far too often, in close-ish games.

It's like "Hey, blitzing and putting pressure with a 4-man front has worked all game! Now let's totally ditch that and try something else! Yeah! We'll do the complete opposite of what's worked because we're afraid it won't work anymore even though they have shown no signs of being able to beat it!"

Ugggg. I'd rather them keep the QB under pressure and force him to make a big pass than the "bend but 'don't' break" defense.

Punting to Bush was clearly not the worst thing Childress did today and is pretty results oriented. Bush also fumbled twice today and had a -5 yard punt return. The problem with those plays were execution by the coverage team.
Childress's obvioulsy stupid decisions were.
The
Punting on 4th and 6 from the 35, followed by kicking a FG on 4th and 11 from the 36.
Calling a TO allowing the booth to review ADP's fumble.

Chilldress said "If he cant kick it out of bounds i will find someone who will!!"

OMG, he's calling out his players after this game?

Wow and who is to say he will have the opportunity to "find somebody new" hello, you should be fired tommorow.

Can't believe there's no mention of Mike Nolan yet. Just off the top of my head, two weeks ago against Seattle the 49ers got the ball down to Seattle's 24 on the right hashmark with 25 seconds left and one timeout. The game was tied. Instead of calling a timeout or at least spiking the ball, and trying to get more yards or at least run the ball to the center of the field, Nolan lets the clock run down and of course Nedney misses the 41-yarder wide right, luckily the Niners lucked out on the coin toss and won in OT.

it is a shame that New Orleans and Minnesota couldn't both lose last night.

Good job Payton, just run the clock and run into the pile. You only have the most accurate QB all season, but no, let's rely on our hobbled 56 year old kicker to hit a 46 yarder FTW. KEEP RUNNING YOUR OFFENSE DOUCHEBAGS. Of course, I lose my fantasy game by 3 points and had Brees. ****.

C. Reggie Bush had so much hype that everybody assumed he'd be taken #1, which means HOU had to have some serious balls to make the pick.

Greatest pick I can remember as of late. I mean obviously drafting a guy like Colston in round 7 is awesome, but that's all luck, if you thought he was that good you'd of taken him in round 6 to make sure you got him. This was not a diamond in the rough, this is a "**** what you guys think I know who's the best and I'm taking him"

Mario is probably the most valuable defensive player in the league [23 year old All pro level DE] to any franchise.

I am a huge Reggie fan and defended him when everybody called him a bust, but Mario Williams is more valuable.

Did anyone else loathe Mike Scioscia's call the other night in the ANA/BOS game as much as I did?

For those who didn't see it, top 9, 2-2 game, Angels have man on third 1 out, Aybar (a good bunter, also a lefty) at the plate with a 2-0 count and they called a suicide squeeze. Aybar epic fails, and runner gets runned down by fat Varitek.

I think Scioscia is a hell of a manager, one of the best in the game, and will obviously have a job for years to come, but come on... let the dude ground it to 2nd or something. F***. It's 2-0, he'll have plenty of pitches to choose from to try to pull (or hey...get a hit? That happens like... one quarter of the time amirite!??!). Of course the announcers don't criticize the play at all because it was "agressive" and "this is how Scioscia manages all season" and "this is the style of ball that got them here" and "hustle" and "grit" and "gritty grit grit".

Let the dude swing-away, score run, go ahead 3-2, bring K-Rod in, win game, go back to ANA tied 2-2 with HFA.

Or, the suicide squeeze. Suicide squeeze call was almost as bad as the Cleveland 3rd base coach holding Kenny Lofton at 3rd a couple years back in the playoffs. Roffle.

I think its a less bad play if you are like...oh say the Red Sox, and its the bottom of the 9th instead of the top. 1 run wins the game most of the time, but not like....95% of the time. And when its even remotely expected, the success rate plummets.

Tommy Bowden just went for it on 4th and 17 from inside his own 25 down by 5 with about 4:30 left. No timeouts, but still horrible.

Even though they got it, with that offense I'm pretty sure punting it away and hoping for the Wake player to muff it has a higher EV. Nice timeout usage too, that's a well coached football team.
