The Redskins kicked a FG up 3 at the 7 on 4th and 3 with 1:09 left and Sea had 0 Timeouts. So if you go up 6 there you take away the other teams FG to tie equity, you also spot them 15 yards from the kickoff compared to no conversion. (Gano was routinely putting them out of the EZ but he did kick one out of bounds, no recency bias in saying theres a 1/10 chance he does that again I don't think) Also coaches are notorious of making the mistake of playing for overtime, so by going for it and not getting it you're equity will still be higher than it would be in a vacuum since Sea will play sub optimally. So the FG is like, marginally better than just giving them the ball on the 5. On top of that if Wash goes for it half the time they get it and game over. On top of that Washington had a FG and an XP blocked that game so you're talking at least a 15-20% chance of a block (I can accept one block is a fluke, 2 by the same guy and its probably a real issue.) So yeah, Washington made a horrible decision, albeit in a situation where their WP was really high anyway.

Turner also called the time out with about 2 seconds left on the play clock and it didn't look like DEN could get the kick off.

Problem most coaches have is not considering fourth down. If you know you are in 4th down territory. On 2nd and 3rd down you should be trying to gain 3 or 4 yards as opposed to 10.
