I'm pretty sure at this point Lane Kiffin just wants to get fired so he can get paid and not have to put up with Al Davis anymore.

I'm thinking this was like when Costanza wanted to go to the Mets and he wore Lou Gehrig's jersey and destroyed the World Series trophy.

Andy Reid calling a timeout after third and goal.
Andy Reid kicking a 50 yard FG on 4th and 1.

Brad Childress calling out of the shotgun on 3rd and 1 and switching out ADP.
Brad Childress punting on 4th and 13 with no timeouts down two tds with 2 minutes left.

OMG Kiffin totally needs to do this. And of course it needs to be filmed.

As soon as Childress did that I came on 2+2 to look at this thread. He didnt win the challenge either, so he wasted two timeouts LOL.

Wow, I always thought the hate for him on here was exaggerated but maybe he really is that bad. Is he as bad as Mike Tice?

Leading 23-17, Tennessee scores with 3:40 left in the 4th quarter. Jeff fisher sends out his kicker for the XP to make it a 13 point lead instead of going for 2.

I mean obviously they'd have to have a serious catastrophe including an onside kick for this to bite them, but don't they have a chart just for these 4th quarter 2pt conversion scenarios?

Can someone explain to me what 'point' Kiffin was making by attempting a 76 yd field goal. I don't really understand this situation, but do people really think he's just trying to get fired? IDK that seems kind of nuts for a coach to do that if he ever wants to get hired again? Like Ok, i get the Bellechick punt as making a 'point' but I don't get it in this spot. Have people been complaining he doesn't kick enough FG's? lol

Have you guys ever seen Janikowski kick? He has way more leg than most of you seem to realize. I haven't seen yesterdays kick, but depending on conditions I can definitely imagine him making something that destroys the current 63 yd record.

Youtube of Janikowski 64 yard attempt last year. That thing hit like halfway up the upright.

If anyone could do it, Janikowski is the guy.

Janikowski's kick was *against* a mild wind. It landed at like the 5 yard line iirc.

That said, it was basically the coolest thing the Raiders will do all year, and it set an NFL record!

Anyone else think that big smart Andy NOT challenging after the fourth failed 1 yard rushing attempt last night is a big dumb mistake? Probably won't get it overturned, but that challenge represented the Eagles best chance to score 6 during the rest of that game (once they got stuffed - what's one more than thrice?).

I think there's a better chance of the strongest legged kicker in football hitting a 75 yard FG than there is of a hail mary working. The only problem is the whole return thing, but you're the Raiders, why the **** not?

Dennis Green threatened to attempt a 77 yarder with Neil Rackers, once.

2006 season, week 3: 5 seconds left in the game with the Rams up 16 to 14, the Rams punt to Arizona. Using an obscure rule, the Cards fair catch the punt with no time on the clock, with the intent to take a free kick from their own 33 in an attempt to win the game.

(This actually led to an odd sequence. Arizona was offside on the play and the Rams declined the penalty. However, after noticing that Rackers was going to attempt a FG, he changed his mind and accepted the penalty, giving the Rams one more play with no time on the clock. They kneeled and ended the game.)

The kick was also from behind where a kickoff takes place.

That decision probably belongs in this thread, actually. Lots of Cards fans thought the whole situation was handled wrong, because Linehan clearly declined the penalty and only accepted it AFTER he was informed of the kneel down option.

Presumably, he though he had to repunt it, and didn't want to risk a return.

watching HS games are brutal. The only situation I can think of kicking the PAT in is if you are tied [after TD]. So if you score to make it 6 - 6 and your kicker is a 70% PAT kicker or w/e.

Recently I saw a team down 16 score to make it 6 - 16, then they miss the PAT. ****ing justice.

Well, for the Janikowski field goal, the ball was placed at the 34 yard line, so it was 4 yards in front of where the kickoff takes place from. Especially without a strong wind behind him, how many times has Janikowski kicked a kickoff out of the endzone (probably how far it has to go in order for it to go through the uprights from the 34), and then take into account that instead of a running start he gets 2 steps and has to kick.

I'd estimate that San Diego has a way higher EV in points running that play than the Raiders do, simply because given the conditions I don't think it's physically possible for Janikowski to kick the ball that far.

I remember watching that game and it was absolutely a terrible decision by the refs to allow them to reverse the initial decision to decline.

Also that rule allows them to kick a FG with no defense on the field at all, which drastically increases the length that a FG kicker could make because they can kick the ball on a low trajectory that wouldn't normally clear the linemen. Rackers would have definitely had a legit shot at that FG, despite the absurd distance.

I have seen kickers boot the kick-off through the uprights. But I think the only time I've seen that is the Mexico City game. The high altitude made the air so thin, I don't think a single kick-off landed in the end zone. But they obviously get more distance with kickoffs because of the tee and running start. Janikowski and Rackers can probably kick the ball through the uprights from the 34, but only in Denver, with a tailwind, off a tee. Then again, maybe Assani's hypothetical highly trained son will do it in the future.

Has Assani stated that he wants to have a son and immeidtaly specializing him in place kicking? I just find this funny because I also came up with this idea afew years ago. It seems ingenius, no one EVER focuses on this at youth, haha.
