Alright, I'm jumping the gun a little bit, but I'm excited so sue me or whatever.

USM @ USCe should be good. USM could be a legit non AQ contender, and we'll get to see if the hype about USCe's offense is legit.

Minnesota goes on the road to play MTSU, which might be the best team Sun Belt team ever (tallest midget, ldo). MTSU's got a legit shot to go like 11-1 this year.

Pitt @ Utah is gonna be sick too. Big East and MWC (Utah's still MWC as far as the BCS is concerned) are both desperate for big wins, and a Pitt loss right out of the gate could be disastrous for the BE.

Obv want to see OSU take care of business against Marshall, and everybody is curious to see what USC will look like in a morbid car-crash victim removing the bandages after months of surgery kind of way.

On Friday, Nova's been one of the best 1-AA teams and they could give Temple's best team in recent history a run for their money in a Philly rivalry. Arizona should handle business if they want to contend in the wide-open Pac-10, but the Glass House is like a House of Horrors for visiting teams.

Lots of good games Saturday:

In-state out of conference rivalries with Colorado/CSU and Louisville/Kentucky (Charlie Strong / Joker Phillips eras begin).

UConn @ Michigan should be a really interesting one. UConn imo is one of the least talked about teams in the country. They ran super bad last year, fought through it, improved, ended on a high note and bring back a ton of talent. Michigan is gonna be really interesting to watch this year too, both teams need a W here pretty bad.

Notre Dame is worth watching, just to see how the Brian Kelly era kicks off, and Marve should at least give Purdue a shot.

Texas will prob roll Rice, but McGuffie show could keep it fun for a quarter or two. Ditto North Texas and the Riley Dodge show.

UCLA @ KSU is a good non conference barometer for how the middle of the Pac and Big-12 will stack up. Oregon should handle business, but it'll be interesting to see who starts and who gets the most snaps at QB.

Mike London's new team takes on his old team in UVA v. Richmond. Doubt I'll watch it, but there is still some curiosity there.

Washington @ BYU should be a great game. BYU is pissed about not getting a Pac-10 invite, UW is pissed about getting cheated in the last game with Locker. BYU is looking for a strong season to solidify a move to independence, Washington has gotten a ton of hype in the offseason about a return to power behind Locker. Both teams would really, really hate to lose this game.

Saturday's main events are Oregon State / TCU and LSU / UNC. Not much needs to be said about those games, they're absolutely huge.

Don't overlook Cincy @ Fresno and Wisconsin @ UNLV as nightcaps though!

Sunday/Monday

SMU/Texas Tech should be interesting to watch. SMU will be flinging it around and who knows what Texas Tech will be doing? SMU ought to be pretty decent this year too, maybe they can hang in this one.

Two fantastic games on Monday. Obviously the biggest game of the weekend is Boise/VT, but don't overlook Maryland/Navy as well too. (I know charder won't). Navy is actually the big favorite in this, and should be really good this year. Maryland needs to find some wins somewhere, or else big Ralph is toast.

Alright, as much as I hate Michigan, this is second time I've seen you claim this, and no, UConn isn't favored.

Sat 9/4 165 Connecticut +3 -110 OVER 54 -105
12:30 PM 166 Michigan -3 +100 UNDER 54 -105

BOise vs. Va TEch should be nasty. Looking forward to that one. If Boise takes that one it is fairly smooth sailing the rest of the way. Which could make the BCS argument very interesting for yet another year.

Clemson is ND jr. High expectations that are never, ever met. Several heartbreaking losses due to panic and laughable coaching.

I'm kind of sad that Jake "not as good as the Rick 6 machine" Christensen isn't on Eastern Illinois anymore. I'm of 2 minds for the week one Iowa game, a super close game vs a 1-AA opponent again could cause everyone to hate all year, allowing me to ship some really nice lines on Iowa games all year. Plus, the most fun plays are when the other team does a known onside kick (as opposed to a suprise) so Clayborn gets to have a full head of steam to smash someone on their hands team. But obviously I would really enjoy Iowa scoring a bunch of points and running away with a game for once.

Also, can Virginia Tech please stomp Boise so we don't have to hear about them and their goofy blue field all year.

lol @ lumping Georgia into this category

I know as well as anyone we haven't lived up to expectations a few times (mainly in 2008), but Georgia has finished the season in the top 25 eight out of the last nine seasons, and in the top 10 five of the last nine. Clemson has finished in the top 25 four of the last nine seasons, and in the top 10 zero times.
