Re: Bobby Petrino on paid leave following crash details

UA should be less concerned about getting a football coach than about hiring a team of lawyers to defend the lawsuits this fiasco will bring. And Petrino's will be the simplest to defend.

lol University of Arkansas

Re: Bobby Petrino on paid leave following crash details

Jeff Long coming out strong about this being a straight firing, so I'm not sure if the reports about their being conditions that Petrino didn't want to adhere to is true. Someone just asked if something along the lines of if Petrino had any opportunities to do anything to keep his job to which Long responded, "No, he wasn't given a chance."

20k payout is the real winner of this press conference.

Edit: Guy who tweeted the hardball **** just directly asked him again and was told Petrino had no opportunity to stay.

Probably the other 158 people that applied for that job Dorrell got for starters.

Re: Bobby Petrino on paid leave following crash details

Arkansas 100% did not want to fire him and neither did the fans, they just were put into a position where they had no other choice. Somewhat akin to the Tressel situation. Entirely different scandal, same result, reluctant firing of a popular (amongst the fans) and successful coach.

If this story ends up being true he's gotta be the most arrogant ahole on the planet, I mean his track record indicates this as a strong possibilty, but this just pushes it over the top.

"Yeah I'm a married father of 4, yeah I was banging an engaged 25 year old who I just gave a job, ya I lied to everyone about it... what you gonna do about it? Sanction me? I'm Bobby F'ing Petrino!"

There's no way the sanction story can be true... I mean, he can't be that dumb and neither can Arkansas, the point of keeping him is to try to win, why keep him and then cripple his recruiting, doesn't jive.

That was the death blow. There were rumors following the wreck that Petrino had given her money to entice her to take the new job. Guess it was true.

Well put.

Anyone have any thoughts on if Wilson will stay or go for the supplemental draft? Likelihood of Paul Petrino continuing to coach?

In addition, possibilities are: Dorrell, her fiance', and who knows what may come of the current coaching staff.
