Of course this discussion is moot as Gamecock Mark Dantonio will set the world aright by beating Ohio State

i dunno man. the last few NCs including the disaster bowl (WVU gagging it up to pitt) leading a two loss SEC team to play OSU has really embarrassed them. and beating michigan as a 17 point favorite by 1 while a 10 point underdog beats alabama will play up some, or it should anyway

but whatever either way the NCAA looks stupid for still having this dumbass system and in the end ohio state is gonna lose to whoever they play against anyway. if it's in the NC they'll just look incredibly laughable, just like the last two times.

Best case scenario for Ohio State is Auburn because they are the luckbox not that good SEC team.

ESPN has a pretty big incentive (tv contact) to push for the SEC to get a team in there.

Not saying you're wrong, but I wouldn't be shocked if we see it happen.

No offense taken! You have to go back to 2005 to find the last title game without SEC involvement and I think that a sense of entitlement / expectation has developed of 'SEC Champion + best of the rest'. Of course, that expectation has never been challenged like this and FSU and OSU are huge names but I do wonder how much of an influence a decade of domination has had on voting attitudes.

Plus the TV deals mean that 'SEC #1' is pushed in a big way every weekend.

MSU have some shot to uncomplicate this for everyone yet of course!

Yeah,1-loss Auburn's resume is good enough to pass undefeated LOLOSUs resume and the voters know that. Auburn will already be ahead in the computers.

I'd snap take tOSU+17 or 14. They aren't great but they are better than nd last year and have a good coach

I just think that voters will see:

13 - 0 Major Conference
13 - 0 Major Conference

and not worry about anything else.
Any truth to this statement: the voters have seen the big10 In the NCG vs the Sec and have lost a lot of respect with new information?

Can the SEC bias overcome the OSU bias?

What happens if Auburn loses? There has to be a way to keep Ohio State out.
sparty wins BIG, jameis to jail, duke > F$U, boom, bama/au rematch.

Pretty sure Ohio State will only be 10-13 point underdogs against FSU if they both finish undefeated. And yes, if they're both undefeated they definitely play in the title game over any one-loss contenders.

There will not be any kind of "media push" to put a team that lost a game into the championship, at the expense of the name recognition of "Ohio State, led by Urban, with two consecutive undefeated seasons".

The only one loss team they got in over was Kansas, and lol Kansas football. They would have clearly been behind a 1 loss WVU, forgot who else lost that final weekend

I feel like every SEC coach is going to vote 1 loss Auburn over Ohio State on their ballot. Combine that with some general Urban Meyer and Ohio State hate and I wouldn't be surprised if Auburn and Ohio State are really close in the coaches poll, especially with Ohio State only winning by 1 versus a shat Michigan team.

The problem is that after the recent BCS blowouts, I just wonder how many voters are conscious of a bad matchup and say screw it we're going to rank more on ability than record.

bolded could happen but that's not going to be nearly enough with Ohio State having an edge in the computers

Dantonio was our DC when we shipped in 2002, he'll take one for the team and lay down next week. Also, Bollman is their OC.

If OSU wins next week we'll be way less than +16 vs. FSU, because that assumes that we beat a solid team in MSU.

Auburn also has the rape charge draw btw.

Riverman,

How much are the computers going to change this week wrt to Auburn/OSU? I was under the assumption it would be a fairly large change

Speaking of that WVU-Pitt game, I'll never forget it because I was at a titty bar for my bachelor party but couldn't stop watching the tv because that game was on

Ohio State's computer ranking may have taken a bit of a hit today as well - their best win was against Wisconsin, and they just lost today at home to Penn State.
