Bianca Andreescu, an unseeded 18-year-old wildcard from Canada, has just become the youngest woman to win the indian Wells title since 17-year-old Serena Williams in 1999. Defeats three-time major champ Angie Kerber 6-4, 3-6, 6-4. What a run. What a talent.

Amazing match. Really fun watch all the way through. Thiem played super solid throughout, just utterly mashing the ball. Fed made a few arguably questionable tactical decisions in the breaks he gave up in the final 2 sets, but can't really blame him too much when his opponent was just utterly blasting it in baseline rallies.

Also a super fun fact: Since Murray's first M1000 victory (Cincinnati 2008), of all the people not in the Big 4, Thiem is the 15th* person to win a M1000 title. In that same period, the Big 4 has won 75 M1000 titles, while the rest of the tour has won 18.

Both really good finals.

I didn't quite like Andreescus's attitude through the tournament, but listening to that exchange with her coach made me like her more. She's really young and hopefully can keep it up.

Well deserved win for Thiem, when he's on he can absolutely crack the ball, it's a thing of beauty.

Incredible stuff. The dominance of those 4 guys is amazing. I know people like to point out Murray and Wawrinka both have only (only!) 3 grand slams, but Murray has made the finals of so many more, and has made the finals of so many M1000 events.

Stan binked his GS titles and that's about all he's done (not to diminish that- my point is just that I feel Murray is much more accomplished).

Also I'm aware I'm arguing with no one in particular.

Murray also got #1.

Gotta admit I’m gutted. I don’t know if he continues after this year unless he wins a few more titles going after that record.

Blows my mind he’s still at the very top approaching 40

You're kind of arguing with me (in absentia). My response to your valid arguments is that even so, Murray is much much closer in stature to Wawrinka than he is to the top 3. So "big 4" still doesn't make much sense to me.

I would agree with that.

Definitely it's three big dogs, and then two other guys, and then everyone else.

Nothing. I got the impression she was a little bratty in the few games I have seen her play before the final, but I think I misinterpreted her WIM.

Keys has to be the most schizo player on tour

You just know she's wanted to rage-quit the sport multiple times.

Won 6 consecutive games (and was up a break 4-2 in the 3rd set) courtesy of her superior quality this match, but when faced with the slightest challenge, her psyche is so delicate and demons so great, she cannot hardly execute shots she took for granted earlier in the same match.

I know it's a ways off, but if Novak were to win the French, he'd have all 4 grand slams in a row again.

Pretty sick brag if he could accomplish it.
