I'm volunteering there this year and since they give us a bunch of tix for Centre Court on random days they've been telling us that if we want tix for Sat or Sun to definitely buy in advance. Tickets for Saturday (semis) and Sunday (final) are typically gone in advance. You might get lucky and be able to get 300 levels, but they cost $100 themselves and you'd be way better off paying the $160 for 100 level in advance.
Pretty much any other day you'll be able to buy tickets for Centre Court without a problem, but on Thurs/Fri you might get stuck in the 300s again. Grounds passes are sold when sessions are sold out but shouldn't be a problem and I really recommend going on the Mon/Tues/Wed (6th/7th/8th). On Mon/Tues you'll be able to get Centre seats fairly easily and on Wed get the best seats you can on the Grandstand Court (if Centre isn't sold out buy the cheapest Centre seat). Since the draw this year is only 48 due to the Olympics, the 16 seeds start play on Wednesday. Since Fed, Djok, Rafa + Canadians will likely be on Centre, they'll have guys like Murray, Tsonga, Berdych etc. on the Grandstand, and potentially even Delpo/Isner on outer courts.
Since the draw is so small, even the first two days should be pretty great and getting front row on the Grandstand isn't difficult if you get there early enough.
