Thought I saw $2.5MM and $7.5MM, cant get it back through the CBA.

Ouch. He's getting charged with murder though, so not sure what else to do. Horrible extension.

Confirmed? I'd be shocked if there wasn't a clause in their CBA letting them waive this

@AdamSchefter 12m
By releasing Aaron Hernandez today, Patriots have waived all rights to recoup bonus money or salary through the CBA.

@AdamSchefter 11m
Aaron Hernandez's new salary-cap charge in 2013 is $5.092 million, an increase of $1.019 million.

‏@AdamSchefter 12m
Aaron Hernandez's 2014 salary-cap charge will be $7.5 million, which is remaining pro-ration of his signing bonus.

For the parts that were paid in advance (bonuses) or guaranteed to be paid, yes he does. And because of how they dealt with him (by releasing him) his team is now unable to get any of that money back.
