Nastiest prison movie ever is a 1980s British film about a young offenders' institution called Scum. Well worth a watch if you can find it

I watched this because of this recommendation.

I wish I hadn't.

He put soap on the floor so it would be too slippery in case he changed his mind? Damn that's ****ed up.

It sounds like these prisons make it really hard to commit suicide but when there's a will, there's a way I guess.

I'd think probably as long as the policy was in effect for 2+years (most have a suicide clause for the first two years).

Most life insurance policies don't pay out for suicides

Yup

http://www.insuranceclarity.com/life...suicide-clause

Suicide for this reason is not all that rare either. The most notorious case of this is R. Budd Dwyer

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R._Budd_Dwyer

Quote:
Since Dwyer died in office, his widow Joanne was able to collect full survivor benefits totaling over $1.28 million, which at the time was the largest death benefit payment ever made by the state system. If Dwyer had been sentenced, state law would have prohibited the payment of his state-provided pension benefits. A spokesman for Dwyer suggested that he may have committed suicide to preserve the pension benefits for his family, whose finances had been ruined by legal defense costs

I have zero clue if this article is legit or not. It goes more in depth to the AH is gay narrative and seems to provide more info that wasnt previously reported http://www.newsweek.com/aaron-hernan...-police-587879

Ernest Wallace, a co-defendant in the Lloyd murder case, told detectives the victim had called Hernandez a “schmoocher,” which was taken by Hernandez and his companions as a gay slur. Wallace was also recorded saying during a jailhouse visit with Tanya Singleton, Hernandez’s cousin, that he would not have helped Hernandez get rid of the murder weapon—a crime for which he is now serving a 4½-to-7 year sentence on accessory to murder charges—if he had known Hernandez was a “limp wrist,” multiple sources say.
Legit hard for me to imagine young people still thinking like this. I think of homophobia as being exclusively the domain of olds these days. lol at caring who people want to ****.

Good that Hernandez's brain is going to be examined for CTE. Definitely wouldn't bet against it. After reading the Zac Easter story (linked upthread I think) I'm starting to lean towards not watching football anymore. If adults want to destroy their brains far be it from me to stop them, the problem is that kids get dragged into playing and that when people end up with CTE, collateral damage is high. Can't really justify being entertained by any of it anymore.

Seriously? Seems pretty naive

The whole inner city structure is about being hard, tough, and not showing weakness.
And being gay is seen as being soft and weak

It's like when Len (Estonia I think) couldn't believe that people were still inherently racist in much of America.

Yep. Name a gay athlete currently playing a professional sport in America. Just on logistics alone there has to be at least 100 if not more.

NFL- 53 players x 32 teams = 1,696
MLB- 25 players x 30 teams = 750
NHL- 23 players x 30 teams= 690
NBA- 13 players x 30 teams= 390

3,526 professional athletes. Add 10% to injuries, promotions, demotions, etc. and you have 3,879.

And none are gay. LOL OK.

Considering that he wouldn't have to worry about being victimized, it seems like being gay would make prison a whole lot better.

There a couple different lines of thinking you could be using to say "he wouldn't have to worry about being victimized" but none of them aren't bull****.

Given what we know of Mr. Hernandez's personality it is not outside the realm of possibility that he would be the hammer and not the nail.

Plenty of homophobes in Oz still, I just don't move in those circles and haven't since like high school (20 years ago).

btw, I heard plenty of anti-Russian racism when in Estonia. Understandable since Russia keeps annexing them and their neighbours, or threatening to.
