my gut says anyone who is in this situation and "destroyed their cel phone and surveillance system" probably didn't didn't do either of things effectively.

Unless he took a hammer to the hard drives for a long time and sprinked the pieces across town. also, PRISM yo. also, lol at the texts being gone.

Gonna be hilarious in a sad way when he didnt do anything criminal during the killing but wrecked his life and faces five years for obstruction and accessory after the fact because he thought destroying a cell phone and security system in the year 2013 actually destroyed data.
