He was 17 FWIW (I think). There have been a lot of players show a lot of promise early in their careers and fall by the wayside. I'd say these are tenuous things to base a judgement on.

if ramsey made the list, then chris morgan must be there somewhere

Listen, I get that Ramsey's inclusion is surprising. However the guy is 18 years old and already has 10 caps for the Wales senior team. I know they aren't exactly a good side, but 10 caps at 18 years old is pretty impresive.

Ramos low rating suprises me a bit

quite weak defensively? yes
leaves caps that lead to goals for opponents? yes

but that is mostly due to the very unbalanced real team he is playing in
he would be an incredible player for a lot of other teams due to his great attacking skills

Is the lack of adjusting his play to help his team a lot better a weakness?
sure it is but he is still an elite attacking FB who definitely deserves better than 198(attacking FBs seem to have a tough stand in your rating seeing that clichy didnt even make the top200)

And indeed I get that he's a talented player with a lot of potential. But his competition for the midfield slots for the Taffs consists largely of Championship footballers.

Hadn't expected a post from Cashy until #50 on the list

I can understand why you feel it is strange that Clichy is not included since he is, most obviously, by far the best full back worldwide, let alone left back.

jep ramsey`s inclusion is suprising as well

unique player with huge talent who could be one of the best in a few years? yes
unbelievable skillfull and mature player for a 18 year old? yes

The problem is that the list isnt about potential but about their current rank right?
Im very exicted about ramsey and all but I dont think he is a top200 just yet(he isnt far away obv)

I'm pretty happy with how I've ordered the fullbacks internally but what does bug me when I look at the list is the sometimes large gaps between them filled by players at other positions. It doesn't really reflect the pretty small differences between the fullbacks themselves. Including some of the fullbacks entirely outside the list.

With Ramsey, he was a very late inclusion who I hadn't even considered at first. But once the thought was there I couldn't let it go and liked it more and more.

What are the standards required for a player to be on your list ?
- MUST THEY STILL BE ACTIVE ?

- MUST THEY HAVE A TOP FORM RIGHT NOW ?

So they're not even in that bubble post.

But wrote this earlier:

And in before neither has Ramsey! Hopefully his write up makes clear why I think, rightly or wrongly, that he is a (very) special case.

I think it goes by sth like that.

Lets say u can make a team for this season and this season only, u dont care about how will player improve in next couple of years or how good he was 5 years ago. U just care how good he will be this season (ofc u can be wrong).

So lets say u had to choose between pepe and lucio (both are already listed and both are CBs). Bjorn choosed pepe and i would to.

Its fair . But wouldnt it be better if we chose them by their position ? That way noone would fight about if a certain keeper would deserve a spot better then a midfielder or something . Just sayin '

no because elite attacking/creative talent is worth more than its defensive counterpart.

Yup 10th best fullback is so much "worse" then 10th best midfielder or striker.

But going by position would be much easier work for bjorn

yeah I've been close to making it "by position" quite a few times.

I really like the Ramsey selection. As you wrote Bjorn, he's one of the rare cases where his talents and potential really warrant him a spot on a list like this. In the admittedly limited time I've seen him, he's shown so real intangibles that you usually don't see in younger players- vision, awareness, and a general presence, to go with his obvious physical skills.

hmm all that said I do not care for the Walcott pick. He has bubble player written all over him imo

kind of agree with this but I didn't want to say it either just because in saying so it kind of forces Ramsey out. Walcott is currently a speed demon with decent finishing. His touch is still pretty poor. I don't think speed alone should put someone on this list, but perhaps by the end of this season he will have earned his placement in Bjorn's list!

Any players that don't play for club teams in Europe on the list?

Hmm unfortunately I can only think of one which you could argue is somewhat of a problem though I think a far smaller one than it would have been previous years.

When looking at the various South American national teams, who have many players represented, it really does seem like the large majority plays in Europe, where of course, and that's the main thing, is the only place, other than national team games here and there, where I can watch them!

Brazil is interesting here too since I think even more so than before even their 4th and 5th (6th 7th 8th?) best at their positions come to Europe. Especially the eastern european leagues seem to have tons of good Brazilians these days. I'm sure there are still many excellent players in the Brazilian league though, just hopefully not some say clear top 50 material yet.

the emergence of brazilian players going to eastern europe has pretty much put the brazilian championship in a situation where you have young, up and coming players along with mediocre players. Granted, it was somewhat like that before, but I don't think that right now there is anyone that is being over looked that plays in brazil or argentina
