Little bit surprised Agger bubbled, Joe Cole is injury related of course and Ivanovic is interesting. Now that he's getting more playing time at Chelsea he may show himself to be better than some people think.

Yeah I think he is really good. Fanni is somewhat of a victim of me not being quite sure just how good he is exactly, but other than that Ivanovic might very well be the best fullback left out and not with as much difference in quality to some of the higher ranked fullbacks that the difference in placings would suggest.
There were just too many players in other positions I couldn't get myself to rank him ahead of.

I would have thought Glen Johnson was a victim of being massively suspect positionally/defensively.

TBH these lists are an impossibility, nobody sees enough of any of the players to make a call, particularly those at the less glamorous clubs.

But Eredivisie was difficult. Some recent absentees from there like Pranjic and Elia I had on my not so short shortlist but in the end I didn't include them. Lets see how they do for their new clubs outside Holland.

There are some players he is pretty comparable with who made the list.

edit: also just noticed that the bubble is a little misleading since apparently I (accidently?) deleted some players from my document once they fell out of the top 200.
Pranjic was one. Just noticed Christian Poulsen is nowhere to be found either. And Bendtner!

Yeah I'll post it in this thread as well.

The top 50 list I brought up was terrible and just an excuse to post the forewords, somewhat more to the point than mine, by Gabriel Marcotti.

Couldn't resist. I did remember the whole mess somewhat but had forgotten he was actually there with the shirt on.

Interestingly though what at the time looked like a miss and may still end up that way, he is hugely talented after all, he HAS since, I think, and the list will reflect this, been surpassed by United midfielders.
