This tournament has names near the top but very boring thus far. Nothing to get the blood pumping.

My mind is absolutely boogled by the utterly terrible quality of the BBC coverage. Can't get my head round the idea of them outbidding Sky for exclusive coverage, then showing like 90 mins of live coverage each day.

Does hidekis caddie also function as a translator? Or is MATSU just out there goating by himself?

They didn't outbid sky - they got it for a bargain price after negotiations with Sky broke down.

I agree that the quality is bad, but they just have the feed they are given I guess.

By only 90 mins live coverage do you mean that a lot of the broadcast is not live? I didn't watch it from 6pm yesterday, and only turned it on tonight around 9:30 to find it was on a thunderstorm warning break.

Grillo appeared on the coverage and Ken Brown starts mentioning how he threw away The Open at Carnoustie. Grillo was 14 back then lol, beggars belief how bad it is. Obviously just thinking of Romero but still unforgivable.

yeah they've been airing it on the red button for a few hours but that's been substandard coverage and of no use if I want to DVR it while I watch the football. The actual live broadcast on BBC1 or 2 has begun around 11pm each day, when most of the field is already in the clubhouse.

I've basically been spoiled by having Sky show practically every meaningful shot every day of every major tournament.

Subtle "I went to the Masters this year" brag. Nice!

I need to find a way to get some Masters Tickets and then hit up the PGA when it's at Bethpage in a couple years to get all 4.

I don't pay for Sky, just pay for one of those online subscriptions for sport channels, so have the choice to watch on American TV or Sky, always choose the American coverage tbh. Soooooooo many guys on Thursday and Fridays of majors who could get shown semi regularly who never do, it's really disappointing. Sky covered the Open and it was the same few groups over and over again. Don't need to comment on how awful McGinley, Roe, Ewen Murray, Livingstone etc are. Sky aren't exceptional. Wayne Riley is superb though, could listen to him all day.

Should be a good battle for this over the weekend. Matsuyama so good right now, but would like to see Louis win another major since losing 2 playoff majors and having never won in the States. I wish the leaderboard had more Spieth/Rory/DJ though to make it more must watch material.

ROW with 3 of the top 6. Looking for their first major since '15 PGA (Jason Day).

Europeans not much of a threat at all since Augusta this year... Fleetwood threatened at Erin Hills and maybe Molinari this week (lol putting means no chance of winning), bad efforts. Glad it's not a Ryder Cup year

It's fun to watch. I'm just talking about the announcers repeating the rule about 2 dozen times.

speaking of the Ryder Cup, i'm really excited to see how Rahm does in his first go around. obv a true talent, but he has been meh in the biggest tournaments so far:

U.S Open: T23, MC
Masters: T27
British Open: T59, T44
Players: T72
PGA: currenlty T46

* i do realize he finished runner-up at the match-play.

Just having Day in contention makes this great.

Also just realized I've only never been to the Masters. Could also yolo pga tomorrow if it's good. How good of a spectator course is it?

I honestly wouldn't have thought the BBC coverage would be so bad, normally they are the GOAT by a considerable margin for coverage of any sport.

Majorly let down by it, even their coverage online has been pretty poor.

I bet on him this week so watched all his shots on featured group coverage, still some developing to do to to get to the next level in terms of temperament and just being smarter with not going for too much. Example par 5 yesterday on back 9, needed the ultimate shot to get it close from back of the bunker to a short sided pin, left it in and made bogey. Bogeyed the drivable par 4 beforehand too by driving into the water, just needs to play a bit smarter, he looked awesome round 1 and shot worst score possible or close to it. And needs to stop being so hard on himself, not every shot is gonna be perfect. Of course all the talent is there for him.

Fowler was the total opposite lol, totally composed, not going for too much when it wasn't on and just very solid with the same reaction to all his shots regardless of result. Hence contending so often in the majors these days.
