If Coutinho has supposedly agreed terms with Barcelona but no fee has been agreed, how is that not an illegal approach? Surely Liverpool would be reporting them if it was true?

From my understanding they give a ball park number, and if it's within the value, they let them talk. If they agree on personal terms, they go forward on the fee.

Some teams do this, some teams don't. Most of the time it's usually when a player wants to leave.

Apparently PSG will have to pay 70m in taxes if they give Neymar the 222m for the release clause, so they want to pay that to Barcelona instead.

I would assume that the release clause would have specific rules to go with it. For instance, in Spain, the player has to pay it himself, right? Seems like if the other team is not fulfilling that then Barca are entitled to say **** off/pay us more.

Not sure how it works in Spain (I think all contracts have to have them there), but release clauses are usually between the club and the player. Hence Liverpool being able to ignore the Suarez one when Arsenal bid - it was effectively up to Suarez to decide to consider Liverpool in breach of contract.

you say this like it's a fact but it seems the clubs' front offices don't agree with you, if the reports are to be believed Real/City/Monaco all think he's worth something in that ball park and I doubt anyone actually ranks him that highly right now

MBappe was not far from being a top 5 player in the C1 KO round this year.

You don't buy potential you buy a strong player who's probably already top 50 itw in Bjorn powerrankong and he's 18 and isn't managed by Mendes or Raiola

Yes in a 7 games competition I used a sample size of 6 games to say that he was probably top 5 player of that competition
