I think it was a Pepe avatar.

Some incorrectly refer to him as "antisemitism frog"

these are my notes which were first impressions of teams

Seadood- top 5 O, below average D
KKC- thin, good O, below average D
wesrwood- below average both sides of the ball, maybe even bad
AFisher- average O, top 5 D, this team just failed to draft a lot of minutes (backup C, someone to chase around SGs)
RT- top 5 O, average D
King of Diamonds- average both sides of the ball, would really test the theory of how important interior D is (spoiler: very)
vinivici9586- top 5 O, bottom 5 D
Cinarocket- top 5 O, bottom 5 D
aejones- above average O, above average D
Moneyball16- bottom 5 O, fringe top 5 D
heroball- top 5 O, bottom 5 D
Krayz- average O, average D
wrane- above average O, below average D
diskoteque- top 5 O, below average D (really should be average or above if full favors health, but gotta ding this team for not having anyone at all to guard a big wing)
Magnummike- average O, top 5 D
mcbeef- average O, above average D? lance was a weird pick for this team (result of ctrl+f salaries up to [what's left] - [oladipo] i'd imagine)
JMurder- below average O, top 5 D
DodgerIrish- above average O, top 5 D?
lfc_usa- top 5 O, bottom 5 D
loldolphins- top 5 O, average D
Neemahb- above average O, average D
charder30- above average O, average D (this team would be in some trouble in the playoffs though unless blake is an mvp candidate again)

[Used an out of 100 system to rank the O/D just so I could see how I thought they were relative to each other]

Top 5 Offenses (looks like I thought there were 8 could be in the top 5, I just didn't wanna miss anyone when ranking)

Cinarocket (91): thin, but a bunch of guys who can shoot and enough creation. (sidenote: this team mirrors my team pretty well except i went with basically aminu instead of a guy like batum, gives me the edge on D and him the edge on O. also lillard passes which is nice)

loldolphins (90): i thought this team was the best O, lou super underrated even if he does take a bit of a hit in the postseason, and that backcourt would be so smooth, but i think rhj/amir hurt their spacing just a touch and cp3 really benefits from someone with some vertical spacing irl-- it'd be weird for him to play with a guy who pops. maybe it's still the best.

RT (90): lebron and a band of merry men who can shoot (last minute change moved this team to #1, but then i edited them back down to a tie for second... forgot about rondo, WOOF)

vinivici9586 (88): steph and some guys who can shoot/roll

Seadood (85): good spacing, good high post offense, lack of dynamism and iso scoring. if murray is as good as dame lillard this year they'll shoot way up

diskoteque (82): not quite enough shooting to be with the rest of these teams, they'd badger themselves to a solid O though

lfc_usa (82): another team with some good offensive players in theory, not sure i see the ability to be efficient though

heroball (75): this team was a mistake to rank here, the backcourt is great but no where near enough shooting from the bigs or the wings. it'd be more like conley's offensive situation than harden's.

looking at this list, it's less fun if i rank my team, but i'd say i'm probably tied for 5th: worse than seadood's in the regular season but probably better in the postseason if healthy

Top 5 Defenses (aha! exactly 5! ...kinda)

JMurder (95): gobert + only one real sieve, gonna give these guys the nod on #1 for their defensive depth w/ elfrid/snell in later rounds

Magnummike (94): holy **** this starting 5 would be a terror on defense, lack of depth on this end though

Moneyball16 (91): a ton of solid random parts here to go along with reigning dpoy. lotta pressure on prince to be able to guard big 3s this year. a few other options though.

AFisher (90): this team just has a lack of depth that is kinda weird. no one to really chase around SGs, iguodala has to do it by default but that's definitely not his thing. weird team to rank, they'd have defensive rebounding problems and a lack of experience. hard not to think their best 3 perimeter defenders aren't pretty great though.

DodgerIrish (88): a bunch of above average defenders that might really look good if aaron gordon takes a step this year

mcbeef and i both have some pretty legit parts to crack this list, i could see my own team as high as fourth or as low as seventh here, i kind of have a bunch of guys who are willing to play D except kyrie, little undersized though

Overall I feel pretty good about the top 3 offenses and the top 2 defenses, pretty muddy aside from that.

I got my team as a top 1 o because it was tops last year with a worse roster in a tougher league.

This was probably my favorite NBA draft format, think there's a lot of parity here

The cviggity auction from last year was also fantastic

Rondae Hollis Jefferson should be on my team. Solomon Hill should not.

Better roster in an easier league, in my opinion.

edit: to clarify my position, Faried is v underrated on that end, he's excellent. Gary Harris is massive upgrade over Josh Richardson, like top 20% SG on O vs bottom 20% SG on O or something (and particularly good with Jokic at cutting/etc.). The only way you'd have a good argument is if Murray were right away like the 50th best offensive player ITL. Idk if he's ready for that yet. Maybe though, wanna buy stock on him for sure.

Look at the other offenses above you: Lebron + Horford is pretty similar to the Lebron + Frye bench units which have been unstoppable on O, Steph + Booker (with Otto on the wing) is similar to pre-Durant Warriors, CP3+Beal+Turner has significantly more shooting than the CP3+DAJ PnRs ever had around him AND has a real bench (Lou) that those Clippers teams never had, so it's a better version of the No-Blake Clips which were terrific on O, and Dame+KAT is an offense with two stars who already carry their own O and have a bundle of shooting around them (Batum, Ariza, Hield)-- KAT in particular has really struggled to ever have enough spacing on his team, he'll have plenty here. Not only that but Batum returning to third option role is pretty good for him.

I was referring to their bench. The offense with Harris / Gallo /Jokic put up 120+ ppp, which pretty much broke basketball except for the death lineup.

Imo their starting offense is slightly worse while bench offense is miles better, but whatevs either way.

Wrt his midrange game, just look at all of the different shots in his bag. These are the ho-him hooks he's hitting at 60%, he has a knack for using both hands and going floater vsglass when needed, just so incredibly skilled. I think his next offensive leap will come from being able to hit outside with accuracy plus a little more Love from the refs.

2k ratings were always gonna be a disaster, no need to go down that rabbit hole. Not like the results will "prove" who was the best, just fun to see it simmed out. It's all a variancefest anyway.

Quote:
Bleacher Report recently conducted an NBA "redraft" and used NBA 2K to simulate results, projections & awards saying, "Once our rosters were in place, we put all 30 teams through the wringer that is an NBA 2K simulation. Think we stopped at one time and called it a day? Think again. Our process included 50 separate single-season simulations using the squads that each de facto GM put together. This created a better sample size and made sure outliers were less impactful on the final results.
Hmm where have I seen this before?
