i'll take jimmy butler who has a cap figure of $19,300,894* according to spotrac

easy guy to build with as a good 2-way guy, coming into his 28yo season, and probably primed for some team success with the wolves. i think this is a pretty boring pick tbh, even though there's a couple other solid candidates here

*not sure why, his base salary is $17,546,918 + a trade kicker of $603,976 = $18,150,894? i am confused

Great pick, Sportrac has it as 19,300,894 right?

http://www.spotrac.com/nba/minnesota...es/yearly/cap/

Those are the numbers I've been using for the spreadsheet.

Butler another guy I thought about.

4 mill discount but still think Bulls get better; Rox get worse if they swap.

Hmm am I looking at the salaries wrong? I've been going to Sportrac ----> team ----> salaries by year and picking the salary from there. Are you guys seeing it differently?

I thought the Paul George pick was fine at the time, but seeing Butler go 4 picks later makes me think it was too early. Butler is slightly cheaper and was significantly better last year.

I think there are a couple guys I'd still take above George. I'm not a big Russ guy but thought he went low... then again I feel like half the picks are "omg how did AD only go 16th??!!?!".

PG really seems to be more a lack of enthusiasm than lack of talent. I expect him to be GREAT this year in OKC. But then again Butler might be better too with the Wolves.

Think AD went 15th.

Board
1. LBJ
2. KD
3. Kawhi
4. Harden
5. Steph
6. Russ
7. Brow
8. Undrafted
9. Butler
10. Jokic (auto-corrects to joking)
11.Towns
12. Giannis
13. George
14. Dray

PICKS

Embiid
Porzingis
Covington

Draft Order
1. Jokic
2. KD
3. Staps
4. Kawhi
5. LBJ
6. Covington
7. Curry
8. Towns
9. Embiid
10. Dray
11. Harden
12. George
13. Giannis
14. Russ
15. Brow
16. Butler

Sick value for LBJ/Harden/Russ/Brow/Butler

Even if this is true, which I also believe, he was probably a top 13-15 player at his peak, last year he played closer to a top 40 guy but I doubt anyone here is claiming that's what he'll be going forward.

[edit] I feel like Hero's undrafted should have flown off the board in the top 10, weird that he's been avoided thus far imo.

no, that looks right

looks like its defined in the op that cap hit is what we're using regardless of the other numbers

Hmm you guys seem to have decimated my board with the whole pick run. Will say that PG was last of those people.

Deciding between the remaining 3 people I had roughly around PG. Pick soon.

I had Russ - Giannis as my picks. Originally had Russ Brow. A 4th guy was considered and think he's pretty close but idk

TBH I don't love Russ or his salary but I'm not good enough to fold there

Yeah, I feel pretty good about this pick. The other main player I was considering is probably a lot easier to build around, but he's much older & I can talk about it in more detail when he's picked.

On phone, so will do a real write-up later, but...

Rudy Gobert

$21,974,719 if I'm reading right.

For a one-year draft, outside of possible interseason decline, I wouldn't think age would be a huge motivating factor.

Gobert had a big leap, while the other guy regressed in some areas (& improved in others). Just don't want to get into the details for UNDRAFTED reasons.

But decline/possible additional improvement can be important, especially drafting at this point when someone not really optimal has to be your centerpiece.

Gobert was next off my board. However there is still a guy who shoulda gone ages ago along with Gobert. Roco and Porzingis lel.

There's only three picks to really consider here, after my board was ldo decimated. I prefer to draft guys I haven't before (especially early) but I'll take a fringe top ten player with the 44th highest contract next year, potentially about to blow up a bit more too:

John Wall $18,063,850

Ray and Dood are giving me pause bc I don't think any of my three guys are who they're alluding to.

Is it a wrap? I would normally presume yes, but the spreadsheet and OP look like no.
