B: It's a guarantee that you don't live in the New York area, or probably in the US, but what happens when the Rangers get past the first round is that the big media outlets pretend that New York is a hockey town that loves their Rangers, when the Rangers are the 6th most popular pro sports team in the area, and for the 'New York' fan, often their 4th favorite team. So yeah, people don't pay essentially Ranger prices for Devils tickets in the regular season, there aren't as many Devils fans, but at least the media doesn't pretend that everyone loves them when they start winning.

Re: 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Finals
ITT, Triumph explains to non-New Yorkers why the Rangers, who play a sport most Americans typically don't touch in their childhood, are usually lower in the priority totem pole than the Jets/Giants, Mets/Yankees and Knicks are, who play sports almost all American kids play growing up.
News at 11.
But it's time for real talk.
You deal out condescension with the very best on this forum; unfortunately, one of the byproducts is reaction. You bring out some of my very worst reactions. Much like when you've pushed Gamblor's buttons in the past, it's inevitable. And for the record, I'm not hiding. I've asked for a ban and I'm going to reconsider how I should contribute moving forward when I come back, because clearly I'm out of touch and I haven't been able to adapt.
Bill Berg's OP was out of line. For that, I apologize. You're an excellent contributor to our threads and you have been for quite some time - perhaps even the best. And I've said that in the past. You kept our threads alive when they were getting nowhere near the traffic they do today. I tipped my cap then, and I tip it now.
I have two final requests: 1) This thread should be nuked. Restart it. We've still got until Wednesday night, so let someone do it properly. 2) NhlNut deserves the OP honours, because as I stated before, he's a great NHL poster, he's a fantastic citizen and I'm truly happy for him. I still remember '04 like it was yesterday, and finally getting to the promised land after so many years of futility and embarrassment is the most incredible experience in sports fandom there is. About the closest thing to "earning" something as a fan that you'll ever get. Asking for him to make the thread (if he wants to) isn't a slight against the Devils fans, but Jersey's had 3 Cups and the Kings haven't been here in 2 decades. This is NhlNut's time to enjoy the show.
And for that matter, I'm truly happy for you Triumph, and for real Devils fans that love their team, because you've enlightened me that they're out there. I got put in my place over the Coyotes fans and I'll fully admit I was in the wrong. It's also wrong of me to try to take the shine off of what should be an exciting 2 weeks for you as a diehard fan.
I just want you to remember that our core group of Rangers posters are excellent. They really are. And they're here more or less the entire season. Don't **** on them for cheering for a team you loathe - I've been able to get along with almost every single Canucks poster here for the better part of 4 years (lol Mike Johnson, sorry), and all the while I've been watching them crush and watching my childhood idol fall into obscurity. It literally ****ing kills me but I'm not going to take it out on Canucks fans who are great posters here. There's a fine line between healthy trolling and being a dick - it's the line I crossed with this thread.
That's all I've got to say. Enjoy the finals guys, it really should be fun to watch. Maybe I'll see you guys for the draft and the start of UFA.

Geddy:
I think the Rangers fans who've been here for a long time understand what I'm doing. I've participated in the Rangers thread without problems for years. I know they're real fans, although the forum regs that drop in to cheer for the Rags tilt me some. I think you at least recognize that there's basically 3 devils fans here: Xander, master9000, and me. Needle occasionally. I don't think I need to list off the Rangers fans in that thread. And that's the way it's been for me all my life, pretty much.
I don't think you understand how tilting it is, despite the fact that it's both inevitable and totally rational, for the Devils to be way behind the Rangers in terms of affection even by people from New Jersey. The governor of NJ is a Rangers fan for god's sake. I don't think you get how annoying it is to hear Rangers media sources bring up 1994 day after day after day. To have people like Eddie Olczyk or Bill Clement in the booth, clearly cheering against New Jersey as hard as they can professionally do. To see Stephane Matteau trotted out at the Rangers game during Game 1.
And yes, most of that is because New Jersey has been so successful over the last 20 or so years, and that I've been lucky enough to cheer for an amazing team. It's just a shame that the local media and the NHL media rarely acknowledge that.

Re: 2012 NHL Stanley Cup Finals
Chris Christie was born in 1962. What do you expect? Of course he didn't have a Patrik Sundstrom poster in his room as a kid. While you're at it, light a candle for Isles fans too. I mean, Christ, there's a forgotten franchise if there ever was one, that was one of the greatest dynasties in pro sports history. And ask BigD how it feels to hear Alfredsson gets booed mercilessly in his own building during every Leafs-Sens tilt.
I don't even know why I'm sticking up for Rangers fans, it's not as if I have an attachment to any of them. The Del Zotto post after game 4 was the only thing that irked me. I think I'm just getting fed up in general, and I don't even know why, which is one of the reasons why I think I need a time out from here.
In any case, this isn't about me, it's about you and NhlNut, it's about the fans who haven't acted like attention whoring prima donnas during the season, it's about the people who want to enjoy the SCF and the culmination of the most gruelling tournament in sports.

Not leaving but I do need a ban because I made something about me that has nothing to do with me.
Seriously guys, I am very sorry about this. It won't happen again.
