Who is given the credit for creating poker tracking software??

Maybe this is a stupid question and if so feel free to level, but who has been credited with creating poker tracking software. I mean you have companies set up to offer certain poker tracking softwares to players and it is now a big industry but what were the origins of it's existence. I'm guessing it all starting here with people posted hands they played and eventually someone recognised a gap in the market but was it 2+2 that enamoured this industry. Any thoughts or insight on how this software came to be?

Disclaimer: This is not a thread about the pro's and con's about poker tracking software within online poker just a thread on how it came to fruition and evolved.
