When must one buy tracking software?

I'm sorry if im just reposting (i couldnt find a similar thread).

I've been studying the game for almost a year and about to make my first deposit into PS (~$120) since ive come of age. my focus is going to be on ms cash games and ms/ss mtts. what i need to know is: how influential will a hud be to my play??

btw im well versed in stats and theory, and have had limited (literally!) success in tourneys (ive cashed in 2 freerolls, if that counts). i can multitable and count myself as a competent player.

i dont plan on this thread dragging on.. so a couple of veteran opinions would be helpful.
much appreciated.

If you plan on playing more than 2 tables at once a HUD will be very useful. BTW if you are depositing $120 you will be playing SS not MS.

the trackers are incredibly useful, and not just for their huds. If your bankroll is $120, then they're quite expensive. There is a free one though, FPDB in the free subforum here - I'd prob suggest using that to begin with, or you could run the free trials for HEM2 (15 days?) and PT4 Beta (unknown expiry date, at least 30 days imo).

HM2 has a 30 day trial.

Give the free trial of HM a try. You probably won't want to play without it after 30 days. Start out with the small stakes version then upgrade when you're ready.
