Almost nothing on a Stars table has a control

Post your code (or PM it to me).

Thanks, I'll send a pm later on.

So every session I accidentally click the filter at least once and it seriously tilts me trying to get it back in shape while I have 12 tables auto-activating. So I made this http://overcards.com/wiki/moin.cgi/ControlGuard

I don't know if it deserves it's own thread but enjoy.

There is obv an easier more brutal way to do this but I didn't like the way it made the lobby look.

edit: fozzy your latest avatar is WOW. First I saw like TeddyBear-Charles Lindbergh before seeing the psthemes thingy. Really cool.

I have basically quit browsing the main SW index now. It usually ends with me either tilted or flaming someone - neither of which is a good outcome. So, many noobs got their wish, and I dont troll/flame them anymore. But, I have almost entirely stopped replying/answering to all (even the good OP's) posts.

12 Threads w/ no replies
30+ w/ < 10 replies (easy ?'s, prev answered, bad OP's, etc)
My biggest pet peeve is people asking for help in the SW/CTH forum using posts like "MY AHK/PT/HUD/CPU/MONITOR DOESN'T WORK, HELP MA FIXX IT!" And then they act like others are an annoyance when they ask a bunch of questions trying to get more details about the problem. I would flip if I had Josh's job and had to deal with "My PT3 doesn't work. Why?" Well, ****, you tell me!

So I think this is the right place to ask this question, and sorry if it's been answered before, my search yielded no results...

What poker softwares are free (freeware/open source etc?), and if there's a few what are the best ones?

I'd say REALTIMEHUD (holdemranger.net) is a great free product. All of _dave_'s scripts of course. You can find a lot of free mods too. I don't know of a tracker that is free though. Many of the instructional sites have pretty good deals for getting software (stox definitely) in conjunction with singing up etc.

Experienced Users: Which do you prefer? HoldemManager or PT3

I am looking to either purchase HoldemManager or PT3 when the public version is released.

I had the beta version of HM when it was first released and liked it, but it just seemed that there was more information like tutorials and such, available for PT.

So my question is which is the best bang for my buck, considering I want to utilize the program to its fullest.

And in short what are some of the advantages of each.

Thanks....or flame away.

We haven't even seen the first beta of PT3 with its native HUD yet. Comparing the two at this point doesn't make any sense. And you failed to acknowledge PokerEV which will be a direct competitor to HM and PT3 when it's released.

Thanks for the reply Towelie. You sound pretty knowledgeable. Which of the three, would you buy assuming PT3 is similar to PT2 and why.

Thanks for the excellent reply as well Fozzy. I encourage everyone to purchase his skins and alternate cards for Pokerstars.

LOL - all you did was re-ask, what you were told could not be answered. I think it deserved a LOL.

And why would you (or anyone) assume PT3 is similar to PT2? I suggest you try the free beta version.

I will purchase HM based on your recommendation. You are usually very helpful with people while I have lurked, I was just surprised by your LOL statement. I guess it comes of sounding more stupid to someone who is very literate with computers. I tried to download PT3 but my password for Postgres wasn't working so I deleted it and tried to download the new version of Postgres which is very confusing for me with Vista and such. Not everyone is as adept at CPU's as others. That is why I am posting in the RE RE thread....because I'm a RE RE when it comes to computers. When I finally get Postgres working again I will purchase HoldemManager.

And even though it was meant as a slight at first, your skin mods are very impressive. I'm just afraid I wouldn't be able to keep up with reinstalling after the periodic updates.

Skin mods are much easier and less complicated than SQL. The updates can be mostly avoided as well. I would be glad to teach you how, and give you some free samples to test.

The SQL screwed me too, numerous times. I needed to have someone help me, via TeamViewer Remote Support.

Tell you what I will do, if you would like - and I don't offer this lightly (pretty much never offered it openly).

PM me your AIM/MSN ID - and I will use TeamViewer Remote Support, and help you to install PostgreSQL and the HM trial, and PT3 beta and get them both set up so you can test them, side by side.

I can also show you how to install some stars themes/cards after we get all that sorted out.

This is extremely nice of you and I genuinely appreciate it.

I might take you up on that offer later this week but I would rather try and learn it myself, albeit very slowly. I am going to try this week and install it myself, since I got it working previously with HoldemManager. I would like to see if I can get it running again rather than wasting your time until I need it.

I just deleted Postgres from my programs and I am going to reinstall PT3 with Postgres. If I understood correctly from the PT3 thread that should work if I deleted the Postgres properly.

So hopefully you will be not hearing from me again. But once I review the skins thread and become more comfortable I will purchase your 4 color large deck and a table skin. Hopefully I will be able to see flush draws more clearly while mutitabling.

This is more of the kind of reply I had expected from you, except not nearly as kind.

Thank you very much for the offer.

Are you sure you deleted SQL properly? Uninstall it, delete all traces from your Program Files folder and you also need to use the DOS commad to delete all traces of SQL users. Search/Ask in the PT3 thread, as I know it has been mentioned recently.

Feel free to ask me, if you want any assistance - either with SQL or later with trying out some free mods.

bump for almost off the front page

FWIW, once you have a working PostgreSQL installation (for any application) - one need never uninstall / reinstall it ever again.

The main trackers are blurring the seperation between applications imo. if PGSQL works for something, it will work for everything.

If you lost your password, you should have disabled password checking. deleting / reinstalling PostgreSQL is a very heavy-handed way to resolve this problem, and it may not even work.

Intentional or not, you posted in the thread where you are extrmely likely to get accurate help from experienced software people. Good job

dave.
