PSCB - PokerStars Card Back - Change your card back color !

You won't have to manually edit everytime
launch your PS client using the .exe (you have to read the readme before to know where to place the myback.bmp image) or with the .ahk

Look like this

Re: PSCB - PokerStars Card Back - Change your card back color !

Welcome to last year.

PSCB.exe? An AHK EXE? You will have to pardon my paranoia, but is that really necessary? They can simply install the card back, after they launch stars and the update, or they can bypass it manually by editing their Stars Shortcuts. I am a bit cautious of running random EXE's that I download from some guys blog.

FWIW - I use Self-Extracting Archive's (exe's) that simply extract the images.

Probably a false positive from AHK upx.exe
Update to latest AHK to fix. v. 1.0.47.6
What fozzy said...

Re: PSCB - PokerStars Card Back - Change your card back color !

My main point is/was - Why does anyone need a script to change their Stars settings. Even if you don't bypass the auto updates from Stars, it is very simple to manually extract/install a card back image.

- Open Stars (it updates the default cards/backs for simplified - if you haven't disabled updates)

- Copy/Paste (extract) new Back.bmp to - C:\Program Files\PokerStars\Gx\chips&deck\deck\simple

- Open Cash Table

- If you werent already using the Simplified Deck - simply open up your table to play > Table Options > Choose Theme > Choose Deck > Simplified.

- If you were already using the Simplified Deck the last time you played, that step won't be necessary - your new backs will be displayed already.

Personally I bypass the updates, so my Card/Back mods stay current, without having to reinstall each Stars launch. I then update my Stars client manually every 3-4 weeks, and re-install my preferred Card/Backs Mods.

All of this could be avoided, if Stars would simply add a "Custom Cards Menu" like the "XThemes Menu". Then you could have multiple decks/backs installed, and simply select from a menu of all installed images, just like picking a different table theme.

Re: PSCB - PokerStars Card Back - Change your card back color !

just out of curiosity, where can i get the flag card backs in fozzy's post? i hate having to look all around the ring to see who is still in the hand lol. also i saw something on psthemes.com regarding a free card back download. it said you have to re-do it every time you open up Pstars because PS automatically re-writes the scripts? what is this? sorry if i misused some of the terms but you get the general idea haha

5 Different Free Card Backs

Free Card Mods for Stars

Until Stars decides to add a "Custom Card Mods Menu" similar to their "Themes Menu" this will be an issue. I really expect them to add it soon. I know in their current "Test" software, they have added a "Lobby Themes Menu", which saves me from having to hack a lobby mod, like I did for FTP.

All card/back mods modify the "Simple" folder in Stars. This folder is updated every time you launch Stars. Here is a quote from a forum thread on my site explaining it.

Quote:
Got an e-mail from a customer who didnt know about the trick to prevent Stars from overwriting the card mods every launch. This may be explained on the site, but I am not sure where at this moment. So, until I find the link, I am copying my correspondence/instructions here.
I am pretty sure Bar Explains this somewhere on this site, not sure.

The shortcut you are using (on your DTop I assume) points to - "C:\Program Files\PokerStars\PokerStarsUpdate.exe" . This makes the stars client overwrite the simplified deck. If you make a new shortcut, pointing to - "C:\Program Files\PokerStars\PokerStars.exe" this will keep the client from updating every time you launch. You will then want to run your old shortcut, perhaps once a month, to get any critical updates.

i dont see any .exe files in my computer>c:>program files>pokerstars

i did see the sounds which i have been wanting to change. im assuming those are written over every time too. are there any more in-depth instructions on how to stop them from being written over? all i really understood from that was that you have to re-route(?) some folders into another?? haha i don't want to get an email from pstars saying that im trying to datamine it or something just because i changed some folders around

Re: PSCB - PokerStars Card Back - Change your card back color !

when you right click and take out "update" from the target did it cause your icon to change to a red spade from the standard yellow/red background and black spade?

i was looking in "my computer" earlier i didn't right click on the icon the first time i tried. where do i put the .exe file i downloaded from Free Card Mods for Stars ? im assuming its something like my computer>c:>program files> pokerstars> ...where?

and can you edit the sounds as well?

Dohhh i havn't see your post foz

The source code is included in the .zip
You can "compile" yourself or simply run the ahk

The trojan thing is normal, the programs "launch" another and "move" another

New "improved" version is out. No longer bypass the auto-update

Re: PSCB - PokerStars Card Back - Change your card back color !

OK. Now I understand better what your "compiled script" does. I still prefer to bypass the Stars auto-updates. They have a tendency to break the AHK scripts, in addition to overwriting the simple deck images.

I wish Stars would just add a "Custom Cards Menu" - like the Themes Menu - so we could just install multiple decks, and backs, and then go to the menu and pick our preferred images, like you can for the themes.
