Hey guys, got a question

Is there a way to completely remove the avatars from the black theme ? I don't talk about the pictures but the whole sphere/circle. I want just the pod.

If yes, then you have to edit your ini file. This is the only way afaik.

Yes, exactly like that. I meant the black theme that comes with pokerstars. When i open the gx file with notepad it has some gibberish (random characters) I presume i need a specific program for that. Could someone tell me which one is it and what i should edit ? I 'll ship 2 dollars via pokerstars (nit i know)

I´d also be happy to chime in with a couple of bucks to whomever kind enough to poast (or PM) a solution for how to edit gx.ini files successfully.

stars is/was a little sensitive about the encrypted/de-crypter flying around, so I won't post a link to ITT; however, such a link has been posted recently if you search it.

not sure if it was kkghgf or another poster who didn't manage to get the client to take an edited gx: did you ensure that you used an encrypted version of the gx.ini in the client? It will no longer take plaintext gx.ini files. Another sticking point can be: the client is very strict on typos and also the spacing between certain values, say for instance the placement of the seats might take 2 spaces between each seat co-ordinate whereas the large hole cards might only take one...etc etc.

as for a complete breakdown of which lines do what, that's kind of exhaustive - might be better to post questions after you've had a play with certain lines yourselves.

And in general, if you are not really sure what to do with the ini files, it is best to leave them alone. If after playing with it you start experiencing problems don't go complain to stars because they can't/will not help you. You are much better asking for help here.

Why am I getting a feeling that this whole thread is here just for promoting 3rd party businesses. Those few having solution seem so eager to come and prevent ppl to make their own mods (editing gx.ini is pretty much essential in this). Sad. Hope the business is worth it.

I got a PM to a russian site, which I´ll take a look when I have enough time nad proper resources at hand.

Do some research ITT, it's all been posted numerous times. Stars took action to prevent ini modding for a reason (might want to ask your Russian friends for further explanation ) and no one ITT wants them to go over it again, nor does one want to get into a discussion again. And again, before you ask: Do some research, it's all been posted.

this happens from time to time when the client update requires new instructions in the Gx which yours does not contain, or changes how certain lines of instructions are formatted.

If it is a modification that you have made then the easiest way to resolve it is to decrypt the @default gx.ini and compare the relevant sections to those in your modded gx.

the simplest/quickest solution is if it is a modded gx that someone else has designed: they should be aware of the issue and likely to have made the necessary alterations. If it is a commercial offering then an update DL should be available from them otherwise please ask the designer to re-up the compatible gx ITT.

it's just you being paranoid

as Baobhan said ^^ pokerstars killed ALL custom mods, both free and commercial, on account of the wide distribution of the gx toolset(s), a situation that no-one wants to re-occur.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I forgot that some PS updates require decrypting the new @default gx.ini and reincorporating the mods into the new gx.ini

I was suggested to try out the new TableCrab2, which worked fine. Seems the version I was using had a bug in it. Now the tournament table -text is gone and I´m happy.. for now.

So you have to keep an additional program on whenever you play on Pokerstars just to get rid of that text?

Is the program free to use? Might try how light it is, but I doubt i'd start using it if it takes resources. Or did you just grab a file from that program to replace some file to get rid of the text?

You don´t need to keep it open.. It´s just a tool to decrypt & encrypt gx.ini files at your table theme. To erase the tournament table -text, I modified the
table_label_opacity=100 to table_label_opacity=0.

Before editing gx.ini files, please make appropriate backups. If something fails you might need to use pokerstarsupdate to recover (or even re-install the software). I asked PokerStars permission for this and they approved modifications (but refused to give any kind of support or assistance).
