Pokerstars Theme (free) [main Poker Stars mods thread] - Page 11

For me personally and the students I have coached, I have found we do better when we are forced to think about our bets and bet sizing. Programs that predetermine bet sizes for you (again in my experience) tend to lead to "auto-piloting" and mediocre play.

This is obv my opinion, but I would bet that most people play better w/o a pot script.

I suppose for some people, if they always just use some predetermined amount without thinking about it, it could be a (serious) leak. But some of us use BetPot in a way that simply saves time and effort and allows us to better focus on our tables. I have quite a few different %s programmed into BetPot, and if I think it's appropriate (which I often do), I manually enter a number or make a slight change to the number. I just objected to the statement that the use of BetPot is a bad idea, because I really believe it doesn't hurt my game at all (and in fact helps).

Point taken though. Back to themes.

Well, I made my first theme for Stars, and posted it at www.psthemes.com.

Anyone from 2+2 that goes there, and registers in the PSThemes Forum, and then sends me a PM there (my username in the psthemes forum is: fozzy ) - will get a FREE copy sent to them, via the PSThemeShop (FREE). Once I get the PM there, I will place a free order in the ThemeShop for you to pick up. This will allow me to deliver it only to the people that PM me - and not post a free link to something that is otherwise a item for sale.

Here it is - my first Official Hud Friendly Theme for Stars. This theme also works fine with BetPot for me.

The same offer still stands, that I mentioned on the previous theme.

Fozzy or anyone how are you modding the back of the cards, the ones infront of active players on the table. Im finding the stars default way too dark using the simple theme and a black backdrop.

Something bright red would do nicely

the file is C:\Program Files\PokerStars\Gx\chips&deck\deck\simple\bac k.bmp

pokerstars will overwrite this file each time it updates, so keep it handy for copying and pasting

There is a nice free card back mod in the Downloads section of PSThemes.com by Bar Nuthin. PSThemes Free Downloads Section

There is also a complete free deck of my cards in the downloads section, with bright backs. My 5.4-Dark-Advertiser deck. If you want to use my bright backs, on a different Simple Deck other than my own, I will post a card back installer there also.

if you're using the mod I posted you only need one change. it's in C:\Program Files\PokerStars\Themes\ordinary\label

file is called ps

here it is (this isn't actually the right size but it does not matter at all as far as i can tell)

Everything I posted above still works, but you're going to have to re-save the files to the updated software (don't use your backed up themes folder...it won't work).

Also, I made a redder statusb thingy

for anyone who is interested, i moved several themes to the free section of my site. some of them are "just for fun" themes like the etch-a-sketch theme. not something you'd play all the time, but good for a funny screen shot. Some tribute themes, like Not Forgotten (9/11 tribute theme).

yes - quit running PokerStarsUpdate.exe everytime you launch stars. You need to make a new shortcut - pointing to PokerStars.exe. This will keep it from installing the default simple deck each time.

This is how I do it. I have a shortcut to the "non-update" .exe file on my Quick Launch Bar. Also on my DeskTop is a shortcut to the update.exe for when I need it. When I saw everyone complaining about the stars update the other day - I just laughed.

I wait until everything is sorted - and BetPot has been fixed, etc - before updating my Stars client with the update.exe.

Episteme, what Theme should I use to get it to work on PS? I can't get your theme to show up and I saved everything in the ordinary folder of the Themes folder. I've tried all the default themes, and none of them work - hypersimple won't let me install it so I assume that's it.

i had to make a file for a client who needed to fix the hypersimple theme after trying Episteme's mod. (Prolly just a file name or file type issue)

anyways, here is a repair patch to restore the HyperSimple (ordinary) theme without going through a stars update

if i had to guess (which i do), it probably has something to do with filename extensions. many people's settings do not show the filename extensions and it is easy to name a file improperly - example bg.jpg.jpg

just a guess, though
