Pokerstars Sounds not working! Pokerstars Sounds not working!

K so I just purchased a brand new Dell XPS 9000 and I just recently installed Stars. Problem is some of the sounds aren't working.

The following sounds don't work at all:

Card Dealt
Check
Fold
Question

I have a Soundblaster X-fi Xtreme audio soundcard and logitech speakers fwiw, even tho I highly doubt that has anything to do with it. All the levels of the sounds seem pretty low too compared to when I play on my older PC. The bet and raise sounds seem low and very "thin" if that makes any sense. Definitely a huge difference..I just raised a pot right now and the sound was so low I couldn't even hear it..but I know the bet and raise sounds are working tho. In the sound settings menu everything is checked, and I clicked restore to default sounds but didn't do anything. The sounds I listed don't work when I click "play" as well as not working while I'm playing.

I'd appreciate any help, cause this is very annoying.

Maybe a codec issue. Can happen to .wav files of less than 1sec length that the codec doesn't play them properly. Can you play the sound files in Winamp (i.e.)? Maybe they are missing?

Make sure you got the actual drivers and codec pack installed, and DirectX. Run dxdiag and test DirectSound, DirectMusic etc.

You can in-/decrease the output volume of each channel (i.e. wave, line etc) in the system volume settings.

I know very little about computers my cousin set up this pc for me when I got it. What does Directx have to do with the sounds? I don't have DirectX installed on this PC unless it came with it. And you're referring to said drivers and codec pack for DirectX right? I'll try playing the sounds in Winamp.

I have almost the exact same problem. The following sounds dont work and are specific to my brand new Windows 7 OS (my Windows XP OS works fine):

Check
Fold
Question

I have a support request in to Pokerstars.

Details:
New Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) Acer

I am interested in what Baobhan-Sith has to say about the "codec". I am not familiar with what that means. When I run dxdiag, I don't have an option to test anything but I have to say that I am not familiar with the Windows 7 OS. Any help with testing sound with dxdiag would be appreciated.

*****WORKAROUND that I'd like to know if it works for you*****

1) Using Explorer, navigate to the folder that contains the Pokerstars sound files on your system.

2) Right click on the sound (I belive Check is 4 and Fold is 5) and select Play.

3) Verify the sound plays. In my case it does.

4) In my case, Windows Media Player is the default sound player and will bring up a small dialog box and plays the sound.

5) Now, leave that small dialog box open, minimize it, and play at Pokerstars.

6) The sound now plays for me for Check and Fold as long as that little box is left open. It does not work for the Question sound, but I don't know if I've ever heard that one.

Please let me know if this works or if anyone has a permanent solution.

Sick bump but my neighbours Stars sound only works when he has something with audio going in background like a movie/video. Odd.
