Here is the working code:

http://code.google.com/p/pokerspot-dev/

All instructions you need to compile it and get it running are on the wiki page there.

Dont forget to set the working directories in VC++.

I tried to again to get it compiled with VC2005, but im not a C++ guru, so that didnt work out. So you still need VC6++ to compile it.

Hi max
I tried using the code as you explaind in the wiki and got few questions...
Were you able to compile it in release or just in debug?
What are the working directories for each workspace? for each workspace should it be the directory that contains the *.dsw file or should it be a different one?
do you think you can add a wiki about how to start playing?

thanks...

I got it compiled in debug and release.

The working directory should be the directory containing the dswfile, except for the clientlobby where it should be the parent directory. I cant look right now cause im at another pc, but I think it should be that.

Well, playing is pretty easy. Fire up 2 clients, login and begin to play. Just make sure the users exist in the database, I think the table is called pokeruser.

bump for tuff_fish

If anyone ever had the need for a poker client / server, he is the man, now is the time.

If anyone has been playing with this code over the last few months, please continue to post knowledge.

There is also another open-source server/client project here:

http://freshmeat.net/projects/poker-network

Never really looked into it properly, but supposedly it can handle 1000+ players.

Thank you sir,

This was all very interesting.

Could somebody point me to some URLs that describe what exactly transpired with Dutch Boyd? I have heard snippits here and there, mostly in the Brandy threads, but I am curious as to what happened.

I am not a programmer, I am a mechanical engineer who did a bit of BASIC a long time ago around the time of the Spanish American War. There is a programmer at my work who writes satellite code. He also plays a bit of poker. I will point him here. I don't know if he has any interest, and I know he doesn't have any time. But, he is very good.

As far as anyone getting this up and running, if anyone wants to have a virtual "homegame" without fees, time charges, or rake, there is no legal reason you cannot in most states. Please visit the Legislative Forum if you want to dig deeper.

Again, thanks for the bump.

Tuff

If you're looking for open source poker software, you should try out CSPoker instead.
