I have both, PokerJournal is still a better app at the current state, but that may change in the future.

its super ***** annoying this developer didnt take the app out of the itunes store. my friend told me poker journal was good for live poker so i downloaded it. i have a brand new iphone and the battery is just draining nonstop and the app wont download. can someone tell me how to delete this dam app off of my phone so it stops draining the battery... thanks in advance and sorry if this info was already posted..

Had the same problem and had to go back to the old OS7x (backup).

I will update to OS8 when this says, it is compatible.

Go into your iTunes and delete it. Sucks man. Try RunGood.

Also I'd rather not get stuck with the new ios update like the previous ios 8 updates.

Just updated to iOS 8.1 and was able to download Poker Journal from the App Store and import my data back in from the html backup.

I re-installed PJ from cloud after 8.1 update and it worked but was empty and then used the html back up from my gmail and did restore and it said fatal error and now I can't open PJ.

I would delete the iTunes version and just download a new version from the App Store. Then restore from you html backup. If there was no data from the backup then the database was corrupted probably.

I am not sure what you mean. I went into my itunes and deleted PJ from there and deleted it from my Iphone and when I go to the app store on my Iphone it still shows the cloud dl symbol like before.

Somehow I got it to work. All 2100 sessions! Whew!

Alright looking good so far, I need a few more posts itt of it working for more people before I attempt to upgrade to new IOS.

Yes, it does seem to be working now, but does anyone know how to restore the database using the PJ2_0.sqlite extracted from an iOS backup? This is a lot more recent than my last emailed backup... :-(

Yay!

You could build your own html file from your older backup.

You'll just need to convert your .sqlite file to base64 using a site like this...

http://www.motobit.com/util/base64-decoder-encoder.asp

It will give you a long ass string of characters.

You can open the .html file from your original back up in any text editor (NotePad, Text Edit, etc)

I posted how to convert the .html back up to the .sqlite database a couple pages back. You can just do the reverse of that and send the new html file to yourself and open in PJ

If I install the new iOS8.1 and restore from my iCloud backup of PJ, will it work? Or do I need to go thru the extraction method previously mentioned? I AM very happy to hear that PJ IS working again one way or another.....

FWIW, my older, out of date email backup loaded up fine; but my more recent PJ2_0.sqlite that I extracted from an iOS backup is giving me some trouble - perhaps the file may be corrupted though.

Thanks Harry, the conversion seems ok, but PJ shows the backup as having 0 entries. I've tried mimicking the Mac line endings, 64 chars per line & iso encoding.

Any other settings I should be using?

I did convert the sqlite to CSV using the info from your other post, and the data seems good, so I'm not sure what I might be missing.

So I just updated my phone and tried to restore the old backup and I got the same fatal error and to contact the developer yada yada.

It was downloading the Poker Journal app from the Cloud I didn't try other options but here is what I did although not the greatest option or I may have been lucky.

First I downloaded the app and attempted to restore the backup data. Once it said restore successful message (can't remember exact jargon) I hard exited the program without hitting "OK". If I hit OK I would get that fatal error and it would not allow me to open the APP again and I would have to delete. After I hard exited I loaded the app and all my entries were there. Not sure how this would work but it did!

Not the best solution... let me know if it works for others.

Confirmed PJ works with new 8.1 update. I backed up PJ to iTunes a while back but it was still under the ios7 system. When I updated to new 8.1 on my iPhone 6, I just backed up pj from iTunes and it worked perfectly, although PJ seems to move slower when adding sessions... Dunno what's up with that

Not sure what you needed to mimic at the end of the line the string you get from that site should be all you need to add. So it would look something like this...

Obviously you paste in your base64 string where it says "INSERT YOUR BASE64 STRING HERE". You'll probably want to change the date so you don't have conflicts with backup versions inside of PJ. So you could just make it todays date and time for the file name.

Another test you could is to take your base64 encode string and decode it using the other process and see if all of your data is there. Just incase the site I linked to encode is corrupting the data...

I haven't actually tried any of this going from .sqlite to .html so I'm just assuming it works...

on pj on my iPhone 5s with ios7 any sessions where I lost would be in red and in parentheses

on my iPhone 6 with the new ios8 update, it's red but with a minus sign instead. anyone know how I can get it back to parentheses?

i dont see any apps in itunes. im bad with this stuff sorry. where do i find it?
