I backed up on my ipod touch today then tried to import everything to my iphone 6... it works except all of this month's sessions aren't included (it's unfiltered)

Do I have to manually input each missing session ?

How do I import my html or csv data to the PokerJournal app? On the manage data, backup restore, I can only back up, but not restore?

You need to put a back up in there 1st before the option to restore shows. If you had sent a back up email to yourself previously then you open that document in your device and it adds it to PJ backup list then you can restore.

The HTML from PJ had OSX line-endings, and I work on a Windows box, so there were extra blank lines - I couldn't tell if they mattered or not.

Obviously you paste in your base64 string where it says "INSERT YOUR BASE64 STRING HERE". You'll probably want to change the date so you don't have conflicts with backup versions inside of PJ.

I haven't actually tried any of this going from .sqlite to .html so I'm just assuming it works...
Yes, I did all the correct pasting, but I must have had a bad encoding; PJ would load the file, but it always showed -1 cash & tourney entries. I couldn't find an encoding combination that worked.

I finally decided that it would be quicker to use my previous backup and manually re-enter the few months of missing data that I was able to extract from the sqlite file using your http://convertpokerjournal.com/ site.

Thank you very much for that site & your help!

I emailed the csv to myself, and opened the csv on my iphone, tried "open with" but pokerjournal is not there. I also cannot seem to rename my backup data on the new pokerjornal app.

Poker Journal issues have been resolved. The bugs were worked out in the new iOS update. Finally

Only difference I see is when you have a live session going the app on the home screen doesn't show the red 1 to indicate there is a live session like it used to.

Can anyone else confirm this?

If it is fixed, I will upgrade this weekend to the new iOS.

I had no trouble installing o 8.1 with a backup copy. Granted my backup copy was not fully up to date it did work. I was not able to get my old phone backup onto a iOS 7 before the cloud over wrote that data, so i could only use my data from a old emailed backup copy. But I can confirm it did work on 8.1. So i suggest you create a backup using the ios7 you currently have. Then upgrade if it doesn't work at least you have a html/csv copy.

I downloaded PJ last night after reading post that the problem was solved. It would not complete the installation.

You need to upgrade to 8.1 iOS first.

It definitely works with the new iOS8.1 update! After updating my phone to the new iOS8.1 update, I was able to restore from my Sept 20 iCloud backup (immediate backup prior to iOS8.0) with no issues. Poker Journal restored perfectly along with the data. All is well now!

At least it supports the response from author that the issue wasn't with the app, but with iOS.

I deleted from phone then plugged into computer/ITunes then hit install on PJ app in ITunes then apply.
When app is on phone again then open email doc on phone then once backup saved restore from backup and it should work.

nevermind i just deleted the app and reloaded it and it loaded the database correctly on the second try. wow got my stuff back after like 5 weeks!

now a lot of data entry from the spreadsheets ive been keepin this whole time...

edit: after taking a deeper look, im' noticing that although the backup was made and should contain data up to sept 18, it only has records since sept 12, and i know for a fact i played at least on the 17th (and probably more of those days) because of someone i met at the tables and took a picture of on the 17th. also, after the restore it had some session as still running since like sept 15???

anyone else have a similar problem with a few days of lost data?

FWIW, RunGood is a better option. The developer has shown that he cares about the users and plans to provide ongoing upgrades & support.

I did the same thing and successfully restored all my sessions. Phew!

You'll just need to convert your .sqlite file to base64 using a site like this...

http://www.motobit.com/util/base64-decoder-encoder.asp

It will give you a long ass string of characters.

You can open the .html file from your original back up in any text editor (NotePad, Text Edit, etc)

I posted how to convert the .html back up to the .sqlite database a couple pages back. You can just do the reverse of that and send the new html file to yourself and open in PJ
***Ok, so here is a question that I do not think has been answered in this entire forum. I never backed up my PJ app before the app crashed (yeah, stupid me). I have since gone through all the steps of recovering the data file from my last good restore, converting it to .csv, etc. That being said, how do I import the file to my PJ app? In the app, there appears only to be a backup/restore option--no import file option. It almost seems that because I never did a backup in the first place, that I am not able to import. I emailed the app creator earlier today but no response. Hoping someone here can help me figure out a backdoor way to do this. Have the file ready to go, just can't figure out how to get it in there. When I click on the file in my email (iPhone), it offers me several places to import the file, but PJ is not one of them. FYI: I have also deleted and re-installed the app a few times--no luck.

Thanks!

This is not true.

App works after 8.1 iOS update without any update on PokerJournal, so clearly the issue isn't with PJ.

Someone had also posted that author submitted his bug to apple and did not get a timely response.

Come on. Michael has clearly demonstrated PJ is at the bottom of his list. This happens with every ios update. Remember how long it took for Michael to update PJ to work in ios7?

Yeah, 8.0 isn't his fault, but all the other updates and slow to answer emails speaks louder than this current issue. He should sell the app or take it out of the store and let everyone know he's no longer supporting it rather than dragging on it. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. If enough people complain, we get an update.

I don't think you can import the CSV back into PJ. That's why I made the post you quoted. It's giving advice on how to take your .sqlite file, convert it to base64 string and create your own .html backup. If you don't have an .html file to use as an example, I posted a version a couple posts down. I haven't tried it but should work.
