Anyone have this working on their iphone's with iOS8?

I updated my iphone 5 with iOS8, but it got stuck installing the update, so I had to connect to itunes and do a restore from backup and updated that way.

Every app I had prior to the update was back on the iphone except for the Poker Journal app. It was just gone.

Went into the App Store, looked it up and clicked on the cloud icon to download it to the phone (while crossing my fingers it would still have my data).

So the app will start to download but it only installs to about 99% than just hangs. Tried multiple times to stop and reinstall. Also rebooted iphone and same.

Any ideas? Resolutions? Thanks.

I actually believe Poker Journal is the reason your update got stuck. because that happened to me and a friend, both having poker journal installed.

Then, same problem, can't install it.

Did phone restart itself during iCloud restore and crash so you had to do a soft reboot? (happened to both of us).

What I eventually did btw, was go back to iOS 7.1.2 (apple still accepting that), backup my poker journal data and upgrade again (which again caused all the same problems).

I connected to itunes to do a restore from an icloud backup as I read that was the only way to get out of the ios8 update being stuck IF holding the power and home button reset fix doesn't work (it didn't).

PJ is not working for me either. I'm going to send an email to the developer.

Same problem here. PJ hung up my entire install.

Thought I was going crazy.

My issue is that all my backups are in PJ format. Anyone know how to decrypt their backup without their software?

Is it plausible for you to go back to iOS 7.1.2 like Kley did than make a back-up or export, that can work in Poker Income Pro or some other workable format? A pain I know, but may be only option at present. If you do go this route you may want to delete Poker Journal before you update again so as to avoid a second crash of the update (if indeed it's Poker Journal that is the cause). I'm not familiar with Poker Journal's backup system and export system, sorry. Personally I also use Poker Income Pro (this is functional on iOS8) so luckily I have the data there too, but I know alot of people only use one tracking app. Good luck with it. Hopefully the dev replies with a fix soon.

I just tried, but it is very difficult / impossible.

My wife has an iPad that is not upgraded yet. I'll snag it and take an export from there, and then migrate to Poker Income Pro, unless the developer replies.

I have an email out to him. The more of us that contact him, the better.

i guess i will be waiting to upgrade until PJ gets this fixed

I just went to the Apple Store to find out if I can go back to iOS 7 and they said there's no way of doing that.
I'm so mad about not being out to see my information or use it going forward. They told me that it would be up to the third-party developer to sort out the issue.

I've spent 5 hours on this. Bought / returned an ipad today just in hopes to get my old data. Downgraded to ios7, no luck. I have over 6k hours logged lost. Emailed developer.

Same problem here for me. Hung up both my Ipad Air and iPhone 5s.

Just bought 2nd ipad of the day with old ios7 praying I could restore from a cloud backup but no luck.

Had the same exact problem. Upgrade to iOS 8 hung with progress bar stuck around 50%, rebooting my iPhone 5S didn't help. Had to restore my iPhone with iTunes, didn't have a backup to restore so went to the App Store to install all of my apps. Everything installs except Poker Journal, which just gets stuck at installing.

I am having the same issue, how can we get in contact with the developer? Michael Golden?

This really puts me on tilt!

I hope he resolves this issue ASAP!

I e-mailed him 23 hours ago, michael@megolden.com - no response. You'd think he'd be concerned or would have anticipated this when a major iOS update is released.

I've spent all day working on this issue. I just purchased a $70 piece of software (http://www.iphonebackupextractor.com) so that I can try to recover my 6k+ hours of data. Hopefully, I can get this raw data and import into the poker income app.

Let me know how you go, if it works I will have to do the same thing and import into a different poker app because I don't want this to happen again.

i lost about half a day of my life and really stressed out when my i had to reset my 5s to factory settings during the ios 8 update because it got systematically hung up on the upgrade phase after downloading, despite multiple soft resets.

i thought i was just unlucky and downloaded the update too soon after release and it was buggy. but i guess i was wrong. this thread is connecting the dots.

also had it not appear with all my other apps when i finally got ios8 installed after restoring my phone to factory settings, and luckily recovering most of my data via the cloud autosaves (tho i was not sure, and could not check, if it was on autosave when i had to make the decision to completely wipe the memory).

i guess it was actually poker journal :/. very disappointing from what i had previously thought was a good product and a good value despite being a lil expensive for an app.

If i have to pay again for re-downloading because of bugs i'm going to be really upset, but i guess that seems unlikely. Then again i wouldn't think the coders would have let it completely trash an iphone 5s just because apple released an update.

I too experienced hangs when initially running the upgrade from ios7 to ios8. I had to hard reset / plug into itunes eventually to get my phone to turn on.

I've spent all day now. Bought / returned two ipads from walmart in hopes of recovering from icloud, but my icloud files could not be recovered using that method...

So, I bought $70 piece of software, downloaded my cloud backup (took about 4 hours), and I'm left with files I can't read or make sense of:
.sqlite, .plist, .app, .pjbuzip

If anyone can interpret these files and output the .csv that poker income needs, I'm offering $100 reward. Sent poker income support a link to this post, fingers crossed.

Nothing to add except that I too have had the same exact issues everyone has described, and I too am on life tilt as that data is obviously very critical. After a ton of work I finally have iOS 8 running and all but poker journal apps have been reinstalled. I too am hopeful for any sort of way to get that data.

I was finally able to get my iPad and iPhone back up and running before I saw this thread. I went out to the App Store and manually downloaded a couple of apps and that seems to help get both devices to sync properly. Of course I did notice that poker journal wasn't there and clicked on it to download and now it's hung downloading on both devices and drains the batteries. You can't deleted the icon or stop it from trying to download. So as an FYI if you get you ios8 installed do not try to download PJ until there is a fix.

The same thing happened when IOS 7 was released! He fixed it, it took a while but he fixed it. Let's hope he gets on this asap! Please post updates in this post!

I get that s**t happens, but Michael Golden could at least throw up a statement or something. Wouldn't take much effort on his part, and it would go a long way. As it is, he is alienating customers whose logical assumption is that he doesn't give a f***.

In the meantime, where are the instructions for importing into Poker Income? I keep getting "number of fields mismatch" when I try to import either the TAB or CSV exports.

So thats why my phone exploded yesterday when i tried to update to ios8...same exact set of issues and Pj is the only app that wont open now

Heard back from Michael.

He is aware of the issue and working on a fix.

He is banned from 2+2, as he does not advertise here.

That is all the info I have at the moment.
