Hi,

I was wondering if there is a program for cropping videos.

Here’s what I want to do.

I am recording a session with camtasia while I 4 table. So I have a video with 4 tables without overlap. Lets say I only want to keep a certain hand of the upper right table. Is there a program that I can use to keep that 1/4th of the screen?

Thanks

you should be able to do this with most video editing programs. I have never tried, but I believe that you can do it inmediacoder. You might even be able to do it in camtasia, but I am not sure as I use camstudio.

I made 3 vids using Camtasia trial and now I cant play them back because my trial ended. Is there any way to convert the .camrec files to something that I can play on another player?

Or is there a free player that can play .camrec files?

Thanks

upload the files to megaupload, get a friend of yours who has camtasia to download them and convert to avi, then upload avis for you to megaupload.

I can probably do this myself as I have another PC that has never had Camtasia on it, So I can use the 30 day trial again. How do I convert them? I didnt see anywhere in Camtasia to do that, other than to play it back and re-record it while its playing (losing quality)

right-click the file, 2nd option from top is extract, choose that you can see it says filename.avi() behind the arrow option.

45-60min video takes about 5-10 seconds to convert, filesize will be ~same as camrec size.

How can I record a skype conversation while I use camtasia ? For the moment, it only record my micro but not the conversation with the other people.

Look for an option on your soundcard's recording mixer "what you hear" it is for me. Usually only one audio source is selected for recording (e.g. microphone will be selected if you're getting your own voice only)

I would record the conversation in pamela, a skype add on, and then add that audio later on when you edit it in camtasia

Is there free alternatives? pamela appears to cost money - the free basic version says it only records up to 15 minutes

Pamala, PowerGrammo etc are only like $20.

Just go grim somebody's blinds a few times

Just downloaded the Camtasia trial. I recorded a couple small clips to understand how it works and the clips worked fine. Edited the clips, everything good. I then recorded a session of poker. About 45 mins long. I imported it onto Camtasia and moved it into the timeline and the the video is blank. Although there is still audio. I tried other small clips to see if it was just a freak thing, but now all are the same. Black with audio when I move it to the timeline. One thing worth noting is that I can right click on the clip out of the timeline and preview it and it is fine.

I searched around looking for a solutions and it seemed that disabling the hardware accelerator was the solution.

I have windows vista and it is saying that my video card won't allow me to change my hardware accelerator because of my video drive. I have a laptop and it has a ATI Radeon X1200 video card.

I saw that people were saying that you could change it if Aero was disabled or download updates for the driver. Nothing works. I also saw a lot of places that people were saying that you can't change the hardware accelerator settings on vista.

People use Camtasia on Vista all the time so I know it can be done. Do they have better video cards? Is the hardware accelerator the solution? Or is it something incredibly easy and I'm just over complicating things.

Sorry about the length

Thanks

It's amazing what restarting your computer can do.

Problem solved.

I am a total noob when it comes to poker software. Next week I plan to start coaching myself and get other coaching in the future.

I would like to record myself playing and have the hook up in regards to audio and video to do all the poker training/learning etc.

I would like to know what all do I need. Money is not an issue (within reason). More than anything I would like easy to use, stuff that has as less steps as possible would be ideal.

I have a mic and skype on my cpu (never used either yet)

Thanks for the help.

I am trying to learn to record my sessions. I suck at cpu and software related things. I want to know is it worth it to just buy camtasia or is the free recording software just as good ???

ease of use is very important to me. i dont want to learn to use 2 softwares when i can just learn to use 1 and it will do everything i would ever need it to do. is this camtasia ??

Please try some searches before making (multiple) new threads. There are some existing threads with good information and links about recording your sessions with camtasia or camstudio. You should also look at the various poker hand history tracking database software options like holdem manager, poker tracker 3, fpdb, pokerhands, etc. Those make it much easier to track your progress and review key hands, instead of replaying every hand in real time.

I just read the "how to make a video" thread using camtasia. I was kind of confused because I read that there is a new software also camstudio.. I was wondering which one I should use and if camstudio was as good as camtasia.

I have HM but was thinking of recording a session to possibly send to someone to review and to review myself. Can you tell me how people that review other players videos like to receive the session ?? Is there a certain way that I send it to them ???

Thanks alot for your help. All of this is like a foreign language to me.

I have never used camstudio or camtasia. I am sure you can get decent results with the free camstudio if you learn how to use it properly. There are recent threads/links regarding it here where you could learn the basics and ask your questions if they dont get any response ITT.

You can get just as good results from free software. I made a video going over everything that you will need and how to set it up from start to finish. You should check it out.

for live recordings the sound of my vids is poor. when i open my seperate microphone program (that came with the computer) i find that it isnt much better. its sounds like theres a machine humming right beside it, probably the computer itself i suppose. is a separate high quality microphone essential for recording sound for videos? thanks for any help
