Data Mining PokerStars Data Mining PokerStars

Your IE proxy settings will have no effect on the method PokerStars client uses to connect to the Internet, why would they?

If it is suggested to conduct this procedure from a seperate computer, with a seperate IP address, while not logged in - is there any doubt you are doing something against the rules?

Don't think PS doesn;t know you are datamining... they are just not punishing you yet. Unless you dont use the datamined DB when you play, they can tell. If you don't use the stats, what is the point?

I hope they clear this up one way or another. Personally I wish they would allow it - but I don't hold out much hope.

I don't see how they can tell you are datamining based on your DB. Are you saying that the PS client reads HHs from the PT directory? I really doubt it.

Are there any AHK scripts to automatically open all of the tables for a certain limit?

there was one person who was doing this but they found out about stars TOS and didn't post it

they do have the ability to take screenshots though and can determine how many hands you have actually played with a player.

Yes it works with stars. Just open up tables as an observer and ever hand is automatically added to PO's database. I'm not sure whether or not you can transfer the HHs to PT though.

Note: It hates Vista

You mean Poker Stars software allows them to take screenshots of my desktop any time they want just like trojan horse viruses do? I think it is illegal and violates player's privacy.

poker clients are nothing but Spyware and they can control anything within your computer they want but they don't b/c they have this as an option to make sure they protect you and their other players against cheats

ALthough theoretically feasible, it would be pretty difficult/unlikely for them to determine that you had mined data because number of hands on your HUD was different to number of hands in you had played with your opponents.

FWIW i'm with dave that we shouldn't be publicly advocating/discussing strategies to circumvent the T&C's of the sites, it is all we have to separate ourselves from scum like Ray Bornet.

No, Stars T&C says they can get a list of running processes but nothing else. Any more than that is illegal based on their own terms.

FWIW I used to datamine stars on a regular basis using Poker Office and never got cautioned.

I'm not sure if it was against the T&Cs back then though (just over a year ago)

Isn't poker office specifically allowed? Tons of people use it.

Hello,

I've got two PC's. On one of them (1) I never logged in in PokerStars. Now my question: Can I play on computer 2 while I datamine on computer 1? I'm worried because they have the same IP haven't they?

I connect with the Internet with a normal Router.

Many thanks for your answers!

Fabian

The AHK script works great. Now we just need a table opener.

If anyone want the suggested numbers to show up in the boxes everytime you run it, make the following changes:

Quote:
Gui, Add, Edit, W75 vHowManyHands, 300
Gui, Add, Checkbox, vHandsCheckBox Checked1 gLookAtCheckBox, Hands in IHH
Gui, Add, Edit, w50 x110 y62 vDiffHands, 1600
GuiControl, Show, DiffHands
Gui, Add, Button, x10 y113, Single Grab
Gui, Add, Edit, W50 vTimerBox, 280

I datamined stars speed NL50 tables, 16 simultaneously, with PokerOffice quite recently and never had a problem. Didn't even know that it was against their rules

And no, you can not convert PO databases to PTracker AFAIK.

No, Stars specifically states that they only get access to your running processes. Party can take screen shots, not Stars.

Do you have a script that can open Tables automatically?
01-04-2008 , 04:26 PM
Just find someone who plays at the level u play at and buy there database.

There are other (safer) options for datamining Stars, but I think it's best if people don't talk about this stuff in public.

Its so ****ing wrong hundreds of people are breaking a 'law' PokerStars can not enforce and by doing so have a huge advantage
over others who dont want to break the 'law'.

So ****ing wrong.

PokerStars should just allow datamining, or take some ****ing action against these ****s.

100% agree. Easy for them to fix too, and would enable publishing of many useful scripts, which for now are too dangerous

I'm actually quite annoyed at players who decide to datamine Stars. There are sites which allow you to datamine why not go and play there instead of finding your edge on a site with players who actually stick by the rules.

I'm also suprised alot of you don't mind saying you mine stars... getting close to being called a cheat from me.
