Re: Best IPhone Poker Apps

Word Ace looks interesting, will have to try that. Thanks for the kind words StevieP, I've tried Chinese 13 Card Poker a bit and it looks very nice on the iPad. I don't fully understand Chinese yet and haven't had time to learn it but I had a lot of fun playing for about 10 minutes the other night despite that.

Re: Best IPhone Poker Apps

I've downloaded several poker game apps on the iPhone and they all are horrible. I thought good poker bots were easier to make than they apparently are. All of the AI is horrendous; even the ones that claim to have decent AI. Theta Poker is the best of the ones I've tried, but even that does some weird things that you'd never see any real-life poker player do. I feel like I could write a better AI program in a few days, but maybe I'm missing something...

Here are the ones I've tried:

WSOP Hold'em - I guess it's the official game of the WSOP and boy does it suck. I kept playing thinking the tournaments would get higher as the buy-ins got higher, but they don't. There's like one tight player and the rest are ridiculously bad.

Vanessa Rousso's Poker 1-on-1 - Yeah, I laughed when I saw it. Gave it a shot. Very horrible. The skill level options are like 'easy', 'medium' and 'Vanessa Rousso'. I set to Rousso to test it out and it sucks. It's supposed to "adjust to your playing style" - which apparently means calling all-ins with K high if you show the least bit of aggression. I hope she doesn't play this bad in real life.

Theta Poker - Shows potential. The players mimic real-life players better than any of these, but they're still very exploitable.

For anyone with decent poker skill all of these games suck. I'm just looking for something decent to let me brush up on my tournament strategy from time to time. Or even just a decent heads-up limit AI - I know they're supposed to be very advanced now. I know there's something better out there...

I have developed an app called "Donkey Tracker" that will create a simple HUD for use at live poker tables. It will display VPIP, PFR and a hand count, so you'll be able to see the basic stats for each player at the table using about three button clicks per hand.

http://www.donkeytest.com/donkey_tracker.html

I'd like to hear suggestions for improvements and suggestions for a proper price. I want it to be priced to keep people who don't understand its purpose away from it, but accurately reflect its value to those who understand it.

This looking interesting. I have downloaded it and tried inputting some figures.
Say for example seat 1 raises , seat 3,4,5 all call so we select call for each of those players. Now seat 7 clicks raise for a 3 bet , if we click call on those seats that called the initial raise it deselects the call. DO we leave the call button ticked and does that count as calling the reraise ???

Only one selection is needed per player pre-flop. If a player 3-bets that is the end of the button pressing process unless another player cold-calls.

Future versions of the app with include 3-bet and 4-bet calculations, but the first action of each player is the only thing counted in the first generation of the application.

Also a hand history replayer for iPhone / iPod touch would be cool where you could import some text hand histories and have them stored on your phone to look over. Anyone found anything like this?

Re: Best IPhone Poker Apps

Since both poker income pro and poker journal may have made updates since their last review here can someone post their recent opinions? I either plan on purchasing poker income pro $10 or poker journal $13 and could use your advice about which to choose. I like the backup feature of poker journal in case I change phones and want to retrieve my old data. I think poker income pro only allows you to export data but not import it back into a new phone. Am I correct? Any other key differences besides interface?

Might have a look at that Donkey Tracker. An update would be good though to include 3b and 4b. I'm sure users have sent through other suggestions based on their use of the app.

Can anyone recommend a good tournament timer? Most I've found are for single table home games, rather than a multi-table live game.

Re: Best IPhone Poker Apps

Found what I think is the best tournament app for iPhone:

http://appshopper.com/utilities/poker-blind-timer-2

Great design, has portrait and landscape modes, is universal for both iPhone and iPad, and can store multiple structures. Have emailed the developer hoping to get a few things added: #Players, Players Left, Avg Stack, Avg BBs.

Now I want to find the best ICM app.

I use this tournament timer and am very happy with all the features

support http://www.robinapps.com/pokertimer

iTunes link http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/texas...er/id458921369

custom setups - video out - rebuys & add ons - breaks - chip up reminders - prize pool calculators - iPhone and iPad apps included

about the only thing it doesn't do is manage seating
