timepots are decided on whatever the first non ten or facecard is on the first flop. then that seat will pay.

Lots of different pitches to new players, but they would focus on core points like

1. Less intimidating than NLHE. You don't need to worry about losing all your money on a single hand.

2. Variety. Find out what is the most fun. Find out what you are best at. Don't get bored playing the same game for hours.

3. Triple draw is the greatest game ever. Razz is the easiest game ever (but still fun). Mixed game players are more friendly.

Agree that it takes some effort to bring in casuals but a game can run around 1-2 rec players, no problem.
Yes, all great reasons to play. And while it is difficult to recruit I have been able to do it over the years. I consider myself to be quite the catalyst.

I like Razz. I ignored the groans and called it many times in WSOP Dealer's Choice. But I have never seen it be a fan favorite for either regs or newbies.

Were the Russians playing 20/40 @ the rio this year?

Basically not at all from what I saw, maybe 1.

lol, I wasn't one of the ones fighting against you. At least I don't remember doing so.

But you did kind of take that sentence out of context. I would gladly include it if we had a fish or newbies that would play in the mix if we had these games. But that never happens. At least I've never seen it.

But we knew you were playing regardless. We had you on the hook already ha ha

Lol, please.
And yeah I'm pretty sure you did fight it this year btw. I'd like it in, but I never push very hard for it, as I know it's not that likely to be agreed upon/liked by everyone.
It's kind of strange the mix of people in favour or not in favour of that game in the mix. I think both can dislike it, or be happy with it in.
But it seems that the regs generally don't want it in, both because they prefer the more niche, arguably more fun games, that detract fish, and because they don't actually know how to play it very well.

I have played w a few Russians at WSOP last few yrs, but most seem to be quiet and I've never caught a name. Almost all played fairly well to very well. I know we're talking cash games, but I happened to have 3 888.com Russian pros at my OE table last summer and they were all tough! At various times during the day I also battled w George danzer, naoya kiahara, duhamel and negraneau (for the PS treatment) as well at that same table. It was really bizarre.

Re: mixed game players not liking hold em, i agree, but if it is only 1/8th of the time it should still be worthwhile/profitable - that NL hold em and PLO can both play large is a huge draw in getting hold em playes to play mixed games they would hardly touch otherwise
Razzdugi is fun! And live cash mix games w both limit and big bet games are rarer than a virgin in a whorehouse. As previously stated, most mix game players come from LHE, LO8 or stud player pools.

Plenty of NLHE and PLO players drop into mix games all the time. But usually it's to get away from their main games so having NLHE and/or PLO in the mix would actually be a deterrent for those players.

No, that is a time FLOP. Different than time POT.

I didn't play much rio cash this yr and when I did, 20 mix was either full or not running (I was normally playing bigger anyway). When I wasn't playing a tourney I was typically watching a movie, hanging out by my pool, or playing 50-100 mix at Bellagio.

Have you ever played the EO mixes in LA, HPC or bike? They're both 20/40 limits..

Yes. I'm often in LA but rarely have time to play poker. That said, I have played a few sessions of OE at HP. The bike game was full w long list each time I was there so I played PLO or NLHE instead.

What did you think about the level of play there? Any notables?

There's a guy in these mixes, and I don't wanna say his name since he's kind of a private person and I don't wanna "out" myself, that I think is one of the best players in LA.

First and last initials are the same and he did cash in the 1500 O/8 this year. Do you know who I'm referring to?

Though it was only 15/30 and brief, I did get to play a bit with michael chow at Venetian this wsop and thought he was solid..

Btw, I'm not referring to myself... I meant I don't wanna out the guy who I think is the best

Isn't that the point of this thread? The only reg in the LA games that I know well and respect is wes (though he lives somewhere in the south)

lol I still don't remember but I apologize as it seems as if you are traumatized by it all

Next year we are taking that entire box of plaques and taking out every single plaque with a different game on it. If there are 50-60 of them, so be it bro

what do you think the equivalent of 75/150 on Pokerstars would be to live O8 ?

Some of the more well known regs on PS that play high stakes O8 are:
brendol
CallawayStar
MissBaxter?
kkopgy/Warcabista? (the last two play pretty much ALL the mixed games like stud/razz, draw, 8game, etc.

And then you got the nosebleeders: (not sure how they would fair vs the regs i just listed above since they do not play against each other regularly)
Josio
Viktor Blom
KPR16

EDIT:
Whoops! didint notice this was for Live players only.
Although i don't think its fair to separate live players from online. O8 is O8 imo. Really curious how the guys i just mentioned above would fair vs some of the more well known live pro O8 regs.
