That's retarded".
I think its important for every hand to be evaluated in terms of making as much money as possible, and on that hand in a vacuum. If other things are coming in that should be made in a very clear way and not allowed to de-rail the main thread.

Having said that, not having seen the waitress its difficult to give a definitive answer.

No matter how bad your post is, you aren't going to get a punch in the face or any other negative reinforcement(s) to prevent you from doing it again in the future.

There is a difference between critiquing and insulting someone. The recipient of this should also be willing to handle criticism well. O8 is an unsolved game where there are many different playing styles / philosophies.
^very nice post!

Just want to say that I appreciate the contributions from both SOB and Buzz.

Thanks. And I should tell everybody that Captain R and I worked out our differences in a series of private messages. Everything is fine.

Sad sad news for all of us hoping for a return of the high drama of the Wintermute Era.

This is true. However, if someone's thoughts are different, it can be because either you or they were wrong (sometimes there are facts, not just matters of opinion, e.g. EV calculations).

I'm interested in finding out the right answer (regardless of who proposed it), and the only way to do that when there's disagreement is to break down the logical steps of one (or both) sides to try and find the error.

This can be interpreted as attacking the other person, but it shouldn't be, it's just the quest to improve one's understanding

The forum is also about helping people, and having wrong posts go unchallenged does just the opposite of helping to people who read the forum trying to learn.

Right on. It's really just peer review, although without all the politics and privileged gatekeepers associated with peer review in academia.
