In Position means nothing (NLO8 tourney) In Position means nothing (NLO8 tourney)

What use is position here? I put him on A2 and it seems like a squeeze spot with the flat in front but most of these players will not fold a full so raising or calling to split here seems spewy. Anyways my point is why do people say position is key when the player oop clearly has the advantage in this spot

If button had any sense at all he would have folded river bet. Position offered him that opportunity. Just because he failed to make the right play doesn't mean it wasn't an advantage.

    you folded A2?
    10-01-2014 , 01:31 PM
    Is this a level?

Seriously, YOU are out of position and folded a winner.

You put villain on A2? You close the action and you are only beat by JJ or 99? And you fold?

    Hi AC,

Why didn't you bet or raise the turn?

I don't play NLO8 and don't have much tournament experience, so my apologies to the group if the answer to this question is obvious in this situation.

Hi . I agree with niss. A c bet on the turn, or a check raise , ( not a baby raise ), would have fited in this board, oop. You have 2nd best HIGH, and a shot to a FH, with no possible low atm. So , in my opinion, if you reraise big here, you catch the fishes calling for a low, which usually is the case, most players chase lows, and dont really focus on winning high, they will call you and even if they hit you still get half the pot for you, and they share lo. In this case, ok, you would have splitted on river, but since there was no low, your still winning with half da pot !

Playing passively in this spot would indeed allow a player with J's or 9's to hit a better fh on turn or river.

But hey its always easier to give "advices " once the hand has been played and the cards are known, but really, i suggest to play harder in this spots .

    counterfeiter.

There is an argument for that with the 2 pair back up but i prefer to take a more passive line with non nut hands when it's not heads up

I also posted the wrong hand history as i was involved in a similar hand but i was the button which is why i listed thread title
