"Whipsaw" means you're in the middle, getting raised and re-raised as the betting is capped by two or three opponents. It can involve Hero putting in the first two bets one at a time before facing a double bet.

Middle cards are nines, eights, sevens, and may also include tens that are not connected to higher cards and sixes that are not connected to lower cards.
Middle cards are generally undesirable in starting hands in high low split games at a full table. (
In general, high cards have a better chance of winning for high and wheel cards have a better chance of winning for low).
